What exactly is Essential Driver Training?
EDT Driving Lessons Glin
Fact! Ireland has one of the worst road death statistics in Europe. The Essential Driver Training Syllabus was introduced by the Road Safety Authority to aid combat the situation.
The EDT syllabus requires that 12 structured driving lessons have to be completed, stamped and uploaded to the RSA website by a registered ADI.
These 12 lessons were created with the intention of filling in the vital driving skill gaps that young drivers had which were leading to the high level of road accidents occurring each year.
That's the 'whats' and 'whys' of the EDT.
The Test: Essential preparation
Pretest Driving Lessons Glin
First you must master the rules of the road, the road signs and skills involved to control a car safely. Then you must master the conditions of the driving test and understand what to expect. The test is your chance to show that you are safe enough to drive unaccompanied. As with any exam you have ever had to sit, 80% of passing the driving test is achieved well before the day of the test with right preparation.
If the thoughts of sitting the driving test are overwhelming you then you are not the first to feel like this. Fear of failing, fear of nerves getting the better of you or just fear of the unknown. But with RSA School of Motoring you don't have to be afraid.
Most driving instructors will keep giving you lessons until they ‘think’ you are ready. Often they will send you to do the test not really knowing if you will pass or not. And they do this because they do not truly understand the driving test, how you will be graded or what areas of your driving will cause you to fail. Luckily this is not how we operate. All our instructors have been trained by ex-testers so they fully understand the driving tester and what they are looking for from you on test day.
By the end you’ll understand fully the four stages of the test and understand exactly what the driving tester is looking for from you, how they will speak to you on the day and why and when the tester will mark the sheet.
