As part of an initiative to improve the poor statistics of young drivers getting killed or injured on our roads the Road Safety Authority introduced the Essential Driver Training Syllabus.
This Essential Driver Training Syllabus requires that all learners must complete a minimum of 12 hours of essential driver training by an RSA approved driving instructor.
This 12 lesson syllabus has been designed to ensure young drivers practice vital driving skills and develop a more comprehensive understanding of road safety.

The Test: Essential preparation
Pretest Driving Lessons Kilrossanty
The art of driving safely and securely and the art of passing the driving test should not be confused as the same. Long before sitting the driving test you should have the necessary skills and understanding to drive without putting your life or the lives of others in danger. Our Kilrossanty pretest driving lessons are designed to show you how to beat the test by understanding the conditions you will be placed under.
If your test is booked there is a lot of unknowns and fears to contend with. Fear can distract even the most experienced of drivers. Our approach removes all the unknowns and associated fear that comes with it.
Most driving instructors will keep giving you lessons until they ‘think’ you are ready. Often they will send you to do the test not really knowing if you will pass or not. That is because of a total lack of understanding on how the tester thinks and marks you during the test. This is not how we do things. All our instructors have been trained by ex-testers so they fully understand the driving tester and what they are looking for from you on test day.
We don’t like leaving things to chance. We simulate for you all 4 stages of the test, teach you all the test routes and focus on the areas of your driving that are most likely to get you the most marks or fail you.

You must have a clear view ahead and then use the mirror, signal, mirror manoeuvre technique.
How do you approach and take the third exit off an ordinary four road roundabout?
You must check your rear and right mirrors signal right and manoeuvre right (just left of centre) on approach. Maintain your signal until you reach the exit before the one you want to take, then you must check your rear & left mirror and change your signal to the left, manoeuvre left and exit.
