Lessons that start in Kilkee
Our driving lessons in Kilkee run for one hour, begin at home, school or work, and are taught by an Approved Driving Instructor who tells you honestly how you are doing.
We come to you
Pick-up and drop-off at your agreed point in Kilkee are in the lesson price. Home is the simplest, but school or work is fine if it fits your day.
RSA-approved instructor
Each lesson is with an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car. That gives you a safety net from your first drive on Circular Road.
Steady and patient
There is no shouting in our cars. If you are nervous, the lessons go slower, and you only move on when you are comfortable.
Straight about the test
We tell you when you are ready for Kilrush and what still needs work when you are not. You never pay for hours just to keep a course going.
Pick manual or automatic
Both cars are taught across Munster, and we confirm what is free for Kilkee when you enquire. An automatic pass adds code 78, for automatics only, to your licence.
Have a say in who teaches
Tell us what matters when you get in touch, such as wanting a female instructor. We consider it before matching you for lessons toward the Kilrush test.

Manual driving lessons Kilkee
The manual course from Kilkee opens with the pedals, the gears and moving away smoothly from your pick-up point. O'Connell Street and Circular Road then become your practice ground for junctions, signals and steady speeds. As you improve, manoeuvres join in and the drives grow longer, some of them out to Kilrush. In the final lessons you drive almost the whole hour on your own judgement, with your instructor checking rather than steering. We tell you plainly when that is test standard.

Automatic driving lessons in Kilkee let you skip the clutch and focus on road position, speed and observation from the start. The rest of the course, including pick-up and the pretest at Kilrush, works the same way. One point to weigh up: an automatic pass gives a licence with code 78, which covers automatic cars only, while a manual pass covers both. Tell us your choice when you enquire, and we confirm the car.

EDT lessons in Kilkee
Before your driving test, you complete Essential Driver Training: 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor. Each lesson is signed off in your logbook once it is done. We collect you in Kilkee for every one, so EDT never means a trip to another town just to start.
Some foreign licence holders qualify for a reduced course of six lessons, so tell us about your licence when you enquire. Manual EDT, all 12 lessons, is €587.95. You can pay online or by phone, and a gift voucher can cover 1, 3, 6 or 12 lessons.
The EDT guide ↗Kilrush, the nearest test centre
From Kilkee, the Kilrush centre is 14.4 km by road, about 15 minutes. That is much closer than the alternatives: Ennis is about 50 minutes away, Shannon about 65 and Woodview in Limerick about 80. Kilrush is the obvious first choice, but Ennis is there if it can offer a much earlier date.
The pretest is a one-hour lesson in the area around the Kilrush centre, shortly before your test. Car hire is part of it, so you sit the test in the car you learned in. For a manual, the pretest package costs €183.63. For an automatic, it is €193.81. Book it online or by phone once you have your test date.
From Kilkee streets to Kilrush
Lessons start near your pick-up point, giving you time to get used to the car before anything else. Circular Road and O'Connell Street come in as your control improves. Ballaley Lane adds a little variety later. Toward the end of the course, lessons take you out to Kilrush and the area around its test centre.
In Kilkee, home is the simplest pick-up point. If school or work suits better on a given day, agree that point when booking. You are dropped back at the end of the hour, and being collected never adds to the price.
We also teach in Kilrush and Kilmihil, with an agreed pick-up point in each. Kilrush is the nearer, 11.7 km from Kilkee in a straight line. If you work in Kilrush, you could be collected there and dropped home to Kilkee afterwards.

The EDT: a guide
Your logbook records Essential Driver Training. After each lesson, your instructor signs it, and you keep it for next time. It fills up over 12 lessons. A full logbook means the course is done, not that you are ready, so your instructor tells you separately and honestly when the Kilrush test makes sense.
The EDT guide ↗ Preparing for the test ↗A few good questions
How long does the drive to Kilrush take for a test?
It is 14.4 km by road, about 15 minutes. That makes Kilrush the closest centre by a long way. Ennis, the next nearest, is about 50 minutes, so Kilrush is the natural choice unless Ennis has a much earlier date.
Will a driving instructor in Kilkee pick me up from home?
Yes. You can be collected from home, and that is included in the lesson price. You can name school or work instead, and your instructor will meet you there and bring you back.
Can I take EDT lessons in an automatic in Kilkee?
Yes, EDT can be done in either car. Ask for an automatic when you enquire, and we confirm the car and instructor for Kilkee. An automatic pass leaves code 78 on your licence, limiting you to automatic cars.
What should I bring to my first lesson?
Bring your learner permit. If you have not got one yet, pass the theory test first, then apply to the NDLS. Once it arrives, fill in the form or call 021 2355558 to book.
