Getting ready for the test
Two centres from Listowel
From Listowel, two test centres are within about 40 minutes. Tralee is closer, about 30 minutes and 28.5 km by road. Newcastle West, in County Limerick, takes about 40 minutes over 37.6 km. Check both when you apply, because the further centre may have an earlier date. Killarney, about 55 minutes, is a third choice if neither suits.
Whichever centre you pick, a pretest is a one-hour lesson in the area around it, shortly before your test. Car hire for the test itself is included. Manual learners pay €183.63 for it. You arrive at Tralee or Newcastle West in a car you already know. It is worth booking once your instructor says you are ready.
