Driving lessons Ballyheige
How lessons work in Ballyheige
Driving lessons in Ballyheige come down to three things. You get an hour with an Approved Driving Instructor, collection from home, school or work, and honest advice on when to book.
Home pick-up as standard
Pick-up and drop-off are included in every lesson. In Ballyheige that means home, school or work, at a point we agree with you when you enquire.
A brake on each side
Your instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA. Dual controls in the car give you a margin of safety while you find your feet on Main Street.
Go at your own pace
No shouting, no rushing. If you are nervous, early lessons stay close to home, and Main Street can wait until you feel ready for it.
Ready means ready
Our view of your readiness is honest, even when it is not what you hoped. When you are ready for Tralee we tell you, and when you are not, you hear what still needs work.
Manual or automatic
Both are taught. Manual means one licence for every kind of car, while an automatic pass adds code 78 and limits you to automatics.
Say what suits you
Tell us what matters to you when you get in touch. You can ask for a female instructor, and we confirm your driving instructor in Ballyheige when you enquire.

Choose your transmission
Manual driving lessons Ballyheige
Manual lessons start right outside your house. Once the clutch, gears and moving off feel steady, lessons take in Main Street as you practise junctions and parking. Reversing and turnabouts come in as your confidence grows. Each new step is explained before you try it. After that the hour moves further afield, including drives toward Tralee, so the trip to the test centre feels ordinary when you need it. At test standard, you drive the hour without prompting.

Automatic driving lessons Ballyheige
Automatic driving lessons in Ballyheige are the same hour, the same pick-up and the same approved instructor, just without a clutch. That leaves your full attention free for the road. Weigh up the licence first: pass in an automatic and it carries code 78, valid for automatic cars only, while a manual pass covers both. Tell us you want automatic when you enquire, and we confirm the car.

Getting ready for the test
From Ballyheige to the test
Ballyheige learners have Tralee as their nearest centre, about 20 minutes and 18.6 km by road. Killarney, about 55 minutes away, may have an earlier date if you do not mind the longer drive. Newcastle West, at about 70 minutes, is the furthest of the three. The shorter drive to Tralee also means less time in the car before the test starts.
The pretest gives you one more hour of driving, in the area around the Tralee centre, shortly before your test. The car you used is then yours for the test itself. For a manual, €183.63 covers both. It helps you arrive settled, with no surprises about the car. Book it once we agree you are ready.

Learning in Ballyheige
Lessons from home in Ballyheige
Lessons begin outside your home. The opening hours are about controlling the car close by, then Main Street, then longer drives out of Ballyheige as your skills build. By the later lessons, the drive toward Tralee should feel comfortable. No two learners move at the same speed, and that is fine.
We do not name a meeting point in Ballyheige. Instead we collect you from home, school or work, at a spot agreed when you enquire, and drop you back there afterwards. The cost of collection is already in the lesson price.
We also teach in Ardfert, 7.8 km from Ballyheige in a straight line, Ballyduff at 13.8 km and Ballybunion at 17.6 km. Let us know your town, and the right instructor is confirmed at enquiry. The price is the same in each.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
Before lessons start, you need to pass the theory test and hold a learner permit from the NDLS. After that, your logbook fills one signed lesson at a time. When it is complete and your driving is steady, we tell you so, and you can apply for a date at Tralee.

Ballyheige questions
A few good questions
Will you pick me up at my house in Ballyheige?
Yes. Home pick-up is included in the price, and so is school or work. We agree the exact spot when you enquire and drop you back there after each one-hour lesson.
Are there other centres besides Tralee for Ballyheige learners?
Yes. Tralee is the nearest, about 20 minutes and 18.6 km by road, and Killarney comes next at about 55 minutes. If the wait at Tralee is long, Killarney may have an earlier date, and your pretest can be there instead.
How much are lessons in Ballyheige?
Nothing is added for collection from home. A manual hour is €53.27 and an automatic hour €61.41, and you can pay online or by phone. Gift vouchers are also available for 1, 3, 6 or 12 lessons.
Can my lessons include the drive toward Tralee?
Yes. Once your basics are steady, later lessons can head that way so the trip feels familiar. Closer to the test, the pretest adds an hour in the area around the Tralee centre, with the car hired to you afterwards.
