Driving lessonsFenit
We pick you up from home, school or work in Fenit, so you never travel into Tralee just to start a lesson. When you are ready, the Tralee test centre is about 15 minutes by road.
Learning to drive in Fenit
Choosing a driving school in Fenit mostly comes down to two things: being collected, and being ready for the test in Tralee. We cover both, with one-hour lessons and an Approved Driving Instructor beside you.
Picked up at home
Your lesson begins at the agreed spot, home, school or work, and ends back there an hour later. Pick-up in Fenit is inside the price, not an add-on.
Approved and dual-controlled
From the first drive on Island Road, your teacher is an Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA. The car has dual controls, so there is a brake on the passenger side as well as yours.
Calm from the first hour
If nerves are the worry, you set the pace and the voice in the car stays calm. The drive toward the Tralee centre waits until you feel ready for it.
Told when you are ready
When you are ready for the test at Tralee, your instructor says so. If you are not, you hear what is missing, and nobody pushes extra hours on you.
Your choice of gearbox
Manual and automatic cars are both taught, and we confirm which one is free for Fenit when you enquire. Your licence ends up automatic-only, under code 78, if you pass in an automatic.
A say in who teaches
If you would feel easier with a female instructor, ask when you first get in touch. The same goes for anything else that matters to you before the first lesson in Fenit.

Manual driving lessons Fenit
The first manual lessons cover the clutch, gears and smooth stops, all at an easy pace. Once you move off without stalling most of the time, lessons start to cover more ground. Manoeuvres come in one at a time, each practised until it is repeatable. Before your pretest you should be driving whole lessons with few prompts. We tell you when that point arrives, and we never invent reasons to delay it.

Automatic driving lessons in Fenit follow the same plan without the clutch, so your attention goes on steering, speed and observation. The licence is the thing to weigh up. Code 78 goes on it after an automatic pass, limiting you to automatic cars. With a manual pass, both types are yours to drive. Tell us your choice when you enquire, and we confirm a car and instructor for Fenit.

Fenit lesson prices
These are the same prices we charge in Tralee and Ardfert, and being collected in Fenit is already counted in each one.
EDT lessons in Fenit
Essential Driver Training, or EDT, comes before the driving test for every learner permit holder. The course is 12 lessons long, all with an Approved Driving Instructor, and your logbook records each one. We collect you in Fenit for every one of them.
Your logbook stays with you, not with us, so bring it along each time and your instructor signs it there and then. Twelve signatures later, the course is done and the test in Tralee is the next step. Taken in an automatic, the full course comes to €659.24.
The EDT guide ↗Your test in Tralee
From Fenit, we prepare you for the Tralee centre, a trip of 11.3 km and about 15 minutes by road. Killarney is about 50 minutes by road, Newcastle West about 65 and the Mallow centre about 95. Once you choose a centre, your lessons build toward it, and the final few are planned around its area.
Your pretest takes place in the area around the Tralee centre, as a one-hour lesson shortly before the day. Car hire for the test comes bundled with it. So on test day you drive the same car that has been collecting you in Fenit. Choosing an automatic? Then the pretest with car hire comes to €193.81.
Where Fenit lessons go
Your first drives take in Island Road while you get used to the car. New skills are added once the car feels routine. As you improve, the lessons stretch further from Fenit. Later ones head toward Tralee and the area around its test centre.
In Fenit, pick-up is from home, the school gate or your workplace, whichever you agree with us when booking. Your instructor drops you back at the same spot, or at another agreed one if your day has moved on. Being collected costs nothing on top of the lesson.
Learners in Ardfert and Ballyheige book with us the same way. Ardfert is a distance of 8.0 km from Fenit and Ballyheige 12.7 km, both measured in a straight line. Whichever of those you live in, tell us the town when you enquire so we can agree a pick-up point there.

The EDT: a guide
No learner permit yet? The theory test comes first, and the NDLS issues the permit after that. Once it arrives, call 021 2355558 or use the form, and say whether you want a manual or an automatic. From the first EDT lesson, your logbook fills one signature at a time, and Fenit pick-up is part of every hour.
The EDT guide ↗ Preparing for the test ↗A few good questions
Do I need to get to Tralee for my lessons?
No. Your instructor collects you in Fenit, and every lesson starts from the point you agreed when booking. Later lessons and the pretest move toward the Tralee centre as your test gets closer.
Is Tralee the only test centre near Fenit?
Tralee is the nearest, about 15 minutes by road, but it is not the only option. Killarney, about 50 minutes by road, may have an earlier date. We then plan your pretest for the centre you pick.
Can I buy driving lessons in Fenit as a gift?
Yes. A voucher can cover 1, 3, 6 or 12 lessons, and you pick manual or automatic for it. Whoever receives one is collected in Fenit at an agreed point, the same as any other learner.
Can I learn in an automatic in Fenit?
You can ask for one when you enquire. Car and instructor times vary by town, so we confirm yours for Fenit before the first lesson. Keep in mind that an automatic pass leaves code 78 on your licence.
