Driving lessons Clonlara
What Clonlara learners can expect
Choosing a driving school in Clonlara comes down to who teaches you, where lessons start and whether you are told the truth about the test. Here is how we handle all three.
Collected where you agree
Home, work or a landmark such as Clonlara National School can be your pick-up point. The lesson fee already covers collecting you and dropping you back.
Dual controls from day one
Your Approved Driving Instructor has a second set of pedals, so the early hours on Cromwell Road feel safe even if you have never sat behind a wheel.
A pace that suits you
Nobody in our cars raises their voice. If you are anxious, we repeat a skill until it feels easy before adding the next one.
Ready when you are, not before
Your instructor tells you plainly whether you are ready for Woodview. If something is missing, you hear what it is, and we do not sell hours you do not need.
Two kinds of car
Learn in a manual and you can drive both types after passing. Learn in an automatic, for Woodview, Shannon or Nenagh, and your licence carries code 78.
Tell us what helps
Some learners ask for a female instructor, and others simply want us to know they are nervous. Say so when you enquire, and we take it into account when matching you.

Manual driving lessons Clonlara
Your manual lessons in Clonlara open with the basics: finding the biting point, moving off without a jerk and stopping where you mean to. With those settled, Cromwell Road and Millbrook come in, and you start on junctions, mirrors and signals as a routine. Manoeuvres arrive one at a time. Near the end of the course you drive for most of the hour without prompts, some of it around the Woodview centre. We tell you when that standard is reached.

Automatic driving lessons Clonlara
Automatic driving lessons in Clonlara suit learners who would rather not juggle a clutch and gears while they learn to read the road. The course runs the same way otherwise, from pick-up to pretest. Think about the licence first, though. An automatic pass carries code 78 and covers automatic cars only. A pass in a manual covers both kinds. Tell us which you want when you enquire, and we confirm the car and instructor for Clonlara.

EDT lessons in Clonlara
12EDT lessons6Reduced EDT
Before any learner permit holder can sit the driving test, there are 12 lessons of Essential Driver Training to complete. An Approved Driving Instructor teaches every one and signs your logbook at the end of each. In Clonlara we pick you up for all twelve.
If you hold certain foreign licences, a reduced course of six lessons may be all you need, so tell us when you get in touch. The 12-lesson course in an automatic costs €659.24. A gift voucher for 1, 3, 6 or 12 lessons is another way to pay.

Getting ready for the test
Test centres near Clonlara
From Clonlara, Woodview is the first centre to look at, 9.8 km and about 15 minutes by road. Shannon is about 25 minutes away and Nenagh about 30, so if either has an earlier date, it is a fair option. Ennis is further, at about 40 minutes. Once you pick a centre, the later lessons work toward its area.
The pretest gives you one hour of driving in the area around that centre, shortly before your test. It comes with car hire for the test, so the car you sit the test in is the one you already know. For a manual, the hour plus car hire comes to €183.63. Book it online or on 021 2355558.

Learning in Clonlara
Clonlara roads, lesson by lesson
Lessons begin near wherever we collect you, with time to get used to the car. Cromwell Road is one of the first roads you drive at a steady speed. Millbrook and Annegrove Bridge come into later lessons, when you are ready for longer drives and more to think about.
Pick-up in Clonlara is from the point you agree when booking. Clonlara National School is an easy one to name if your home is hard to find, but your own door is just as fine. You are dropped back at the end, and nothing extra is charged.
Ardnacrusha and Castleconnell are close by, and we teach in both on the same terms. Castleconnell is 4.6 km from Clonlara in a straight line. If your work or college is in one of them, a pick-up there can save you time on the day.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
Every EDT lesson ends with your instructor signing the logbook. That signature means the lesson was completed, not that you are test ready. The two are judged separately, and we are honest about both. Keep the logbook with you, because it goes to every lesson. When all twelve pages are signed, the test at Woodview is the next step.

Clonlara questions
A few good questions
How long would my test-day drive be from Clonlara?
Woodview in Limerick, 9.8 km and about 15 minutes by road. Shannon, about 25 minutes away, and Nenagh, about 30, are the next choices. You can pick whichever offers a date that suits, and we plan the pretest around it.
Can I be picked up near Clonlara National School?
Yes. If that is easier to find than your house, name it as the agreed pick-up point. Your instructor meets you there at the start of the hour and drops you back afterwards, at no extra cost.
I am nervous about driving. Will the lessons in Clonlara be calm?
They will. Nobody shouts, and you set the pace. Tell us about your nerves when you enquire, and the first lessons stay close to your pick-up point until moving off and stopping feel normal.
How many lessons will I need before the test?
Twelve EDT lessons come first, unless a foreign licence reduces your course to six. Beyond that it depends on you. Your instructor tells you honestly when you are ready, and does not stretch the course out.
