Driving lessons Parteen
What Parteen learners get from us
Choosing a driving school in Parteen? With us you get one-hour lessons, an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car and collection from an agreed point.
Pick-up at Athlunkard or home
The Tesco at Athlunkard is a handy meeting point, and home, school or work suit just as well. Your instructor collects you and drops you back within the lesson price.
ADI in a dual-controlled car
Each lesson is with an Approved Driving Instructor, and the car has a second set of pedals. That support helps when Corbally Road first comes into your lessons.
Calm teaching, your pace
Raised voices have no place in our cars. If you are nervous, your instructor slows things down and repeats each skill until it feels manageable.
Honest before you book Woodview
With Woodview this close, it is easy to rush. We tell you plainly when you are ready, and what is missing when you are not, without selling extra hours.
Automatic or manual
Either car is fine to learn in. A manual pass covers both kinds of car, but an automatic pass gives you code 78 on your licence, meaning automatics only.
Your choice of teacher
If you would feel more relaxed with a female instructor, ask when you enquire. Any other preference is worth telling us before your first lesson too.

Manual driving lessons Parteen
Manual lessons from Parteen start with the basics: clutch control, gears and moving away smoothly near your pick-up point. Next, Corbally Road and Ennis Road are where you work on junctions, signals and holding a steady speed. After that, you learn the manoeuvres one by one. Because Woodview is so near, the later lessons can include plenty of driving in the area around the centre without a long trip. When your driving reaches test standard, your instructor tells you directly.

Automatic driving lessons Parteen
Automatic driving lessons in Parteen leave the clutch and gear changes to the car, so your attention stays on the traffic around you. The rest of the course, including the pretest near Woodview, is the same. The licence is what to think about. Passing in an automatic gives you code 78, which allows automatic cars only, while passing in a manual allows both. Ask for an automatic when you enquire, and we confirm one for Parteen.

EDT lessons in Parteen
Before your test, Essential Driver Training has to be completed: 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, each signed off in your logbook. For Parteen learners, each one begins at your agreed point, whether that is home, work or the Tesco at Athlunkard.
Holders of some foreign licences can do a reduced six-lesson course, so tell us which licence you hold. The full 12 lessons in a manual cost €587.95. Spacing them out over a few weeks gives each skill time to settle.

Getting ready for the test
Testing at Woodview from Parteen
Woodview in Limerick is the nearest centre, just 4.4 km and about 5 minutes by road from Parteen. Shannon is about 25 minutes away, and Ennis and Nenagh about 35 each. With Woodview so close, there is rarely a reason to look further, unless another centre has a much earlier date.
The pretest is a one-hour lesson in the area around the Woodview centre, shortly before the test. Car hire is included, so you take the test in the car you learned in. In an automatic, the pretest with car hire costs €193.81. Booking it works online or by phone, like any lesson.

Learning in Parteen
Parteen roads toward Woodview
The first lessons begin near your pick-up point, giving you time with the controls. Corbally Road and Ennis Road follow as your speed and planning improve. Later lessons drive into the area around the Woodview centre often, so it is familiar long before your pretest.
We can collect you from the Tesco at Athlunkard if that is easier than home. School or work suit just as well. You are dropped back at the end of the hour, at the same point or another agreed in advance, and there is no charge for it.
We teach in Ardnacrusha too, only 1.4 km away in a straight line. We also give lessons in Limerick City and Clonlara. If you work in one of those places, a pick-up there can be arranged instead of at home.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
The EDT logbook records every lesson with your instructor's signature, and you keep it throughout the course. Bring it to each lesson. When all 12 are signed, the course is complete. Whether you are ready for Woodview is a separate question, answered honestly by your instructor rather than by the number of pages filled.

Parteen questions
A few good questions
How near is Parteen to the Woodview centre?
Only about 5 minutes, or 4.4 km by road. That makes Woodview the obvious first choice from Parteen, though Shannon, about 25 minutes away, is an option if you want an earlier date.
Can I be picked up at the Tesco in Athlunkard?
Yes. Agree it as your meeting point when you book, and your instructor collects you there at the start of the hour. You can be dropped back there or at home, with no extra cost.
Do I need many lessons if Woodview is so close?
The 12 EDT lessons come first, unless a foreign licence reduces your course to six. After that it depends on you. Your instructor tells you honestly when you are ready, whatever the distance to the centre.
How do I book driving lessons in Parteen?
First comes the theory test, then your learner permit from the NDLS. With your permit, fill in the form or call 021 2355558, and we match you with an instructor and agree a pick-up point.
