Driving lessons Crusheen
How Crusheen lessons work
We run driving lessons in Crusheen from your own front door, or another point you agree, with an Approved Driving Instructor and a dual-controlled car each time.
Your door, your lesson
You can be picked up at home in Crusheen, or at school or work if you agree that instead. The cost of collecting you is already in the lesson price.
Approved, with a second brake
Your instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA, and the car has dual controls. New Limerick Road can wait until you are comfortable with the pedals.
Room to be nervous
Calm voices, clear instructions and no pressure. If a skill takes a few attempts, that is fine, and the next lesson picks up where you left off.
Ready means ready
Before you book Ennis or Shannon, you get an honest answer on whether you are ready. If you are not, you hear what is missing and nothing more is sold.
Choose your gearbox
Manual and automatic cars are both available, confirmed when you enquire. If you pass in an automatic at Ennis, your licence carries code 78 for automatics only.
Ask for who suits you
If you would like a female instructor, ask when you get in touch. Tell us anything else that would help you settle in behind the wheel, too.

Manual driving lessons Crusheen
A manual course from Crusheen begins with getting the car moving smoothly: clutch, biting point, first and second gear. After that, New Limerick Road and Ballinruan Road become places to practise steady speeds, junctions and gear changes. Manoeuvres come in once the basics no longer need thought. Toward the end, lessons stretch out toward Ennis so you know the area around the centre before the pretest. When you reach the standard the test asks for, you hear it from us straight away.

Automatic driving lessons Crusheen
Automatic driving lessons in Crusheen take away the clutch, so you can give all your attention to reading the road and planning ahead. Everything else in the course stays the same, from home pick-up to the pretest. Before deciding, remember the licence: a pass in an automatic carries code 78, which limits you to automatic cars, while a manual pass covers both kinds. When you enquire, we confirm the car and instructor available for Crusheen.

EDT lessons in Crusheen
12EDT lessons6Reduced EDT
Your learner permit comes with Essential Driver Training: 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, completed before the driving test. Each lesson is signed off in your logbook, and the book stays with you. From Crusheen, each one starts with a pick-up at home or another point you choose.
A reduced course of six lessons applies to holders of some foreign licences. If you are paying for a full course in an automatic, the price is €659.24. Gaps of a few days between lessons often help, because the last skill has time to settle before you build on it.

Getting ready for the test
Where to test from Crusheen
Ennis is the nearest centre, 19.2 km and about 15 minutes by road from Crusheen. Shannon is only a little further, at about 20 minutes, so it is a good second option when dates are tight. Woodview in Limerick is about 35 minutes away, and Kilrush about 50. The last lessons follow whichever centre you book.
Your pretest is one hour of driving in the area around that centre, shortly before the test. Car hire for the test is part of the package, so you are not getting used to a strange car on the day. In a manual, the pretest with car hire comes to €183.63. You can book it online or by phone.

Learning in Crusheen
Crusheen roads as you progress
The first lessons stay near home while you get to know the car. As you improve, New Limerick Road gives you room for steady speeds and longer stretches, and Ballinruan Road adds variety. The drive toward Ennis comes last, so the test centre area is familiar before the day.
There is no need to name a landmark in Crusheen. Your instructor collects you from home, or from school or work if that suits your day better. You are dropped back afterwards, and the price is the same whichever point you choose.
We also give lessons in Corofin and Tulla, on the same terms. Ennis is close too, 12.0 km from Crusheen in a straight line. If you work or study in one of those towns, you can be collected there and dropped home after the hour.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
The logbook is how EDT is recorded. After every lesson your instructor signs it, and you bring it back next time. Twelve signatures and the course is done. What the book does not show is whether you are ready for Ennis or Shannon, so your instructor tells you that directly, without inventing reasons to add more hours.

Crusheen questions
A few good questions
Will a driving instructor in Crusheen pick me up at home?
Yes. Home is a fine pick-up point in Crusheen, and it costs nothing extra. If school or work suits a particular day better, agree that point in advance and your instructor meets you there instead.
Is Shannon a good alternative to the Ennis test centre?
It can be. From Crusheen, Shannon is about 20 minutes by road against about 15 for Ennis. If Shannon offers an earlier date, take it, and your pretest moves to the area around that centre.
Can a parent book lessons for a learner in Crusheen?
Of course. Fill in the form or call 021 2355558 with the learner's details and where they should be collected. We match them with an instructor, and you can pay online or by phone.
What if I hold a foreign driving licence?
Some foreign licences qualify for a reduced EDT course of six lessons instead of twelve. Tell us which licence you hold when you enquire, and we can confirm the course you need and plan lessons from Crusheen.
