Driving lessonsKilkishen
Three test centres sit within about 25 minutes of Kilkishen, so you have a real choice of dates. Every lesson before then starts with a pick-up at a point you agree.
Kilkishen lessons, start to test
When you book driving lessons in Kilkishen, you get a one-hour lesson each time, an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car and a plain answer on your progress.
A pick-up that suits you
Kilkishen Cultural Centre is an easy meeting point, and home, school or work are fine too. Collecting you and dropping you back is covered by the lesson fee.
Dual controls and an ADI
Every hour is taught by an Approved Driving Instructor, with a brake on the passenger side as well as yours. You can drive Limerick Road early because of it.
Calm is the rule
Your instructor keeps an even tone, even when something goes wrong. Nervous learners stay with a skill until it feels routine before the lesson moves on.
No padding before the test
Shannon, Ennis or Woodview, we tell you honestly when you are ready to book. If you are not ready yet, you hear exactly what to practise, nothing more.
Automatic or manual
You can learn in either. Keep in mind that an automatic pass means a code 78 licence, for automatics only, whereas passing in a manual covers both.
Say who you would like
If you want a female instructor, or have nerves to mention, say so when you enquire. We use it to match you with the right instructor for Kilkishen.

Manual driving lessons Kilkishen
On a manual course in Kilkishen, the first lessons are about smooth control: clutch, gears and moving off without stalling, close to your pick-up point. Limerick Road and Clonlea then give you room to practise junctions and steady speeds. Manoeuvres come in one at a time, each repeated until you can do it on your own. Later lessons head toward whichever centre you have booked, Shannon, Ennis or Woodview. When you reach test standard, your instructor says so.

If you would rather leave the gears to the car, automatic driving lessons in Kilkishen let you do that. With no clutch to manage, your attention goes on observation, road position and planning ahead. The licence is the trade-off. An automatic pass carries code 78, which limits you to automatic cars, while a manual pass lets you drive either. We confirm an automatic car and instructor for Kilkishen when you enquire.

Kilkishen lesson prices
Single lessons, the EDT course and the pretest are priced below. The figures are the same in every town, and Kilkishen pick-up is included.
EDT lessons in Kilkishen
On a learner permit, you must complete Essential Driver Training before your test. That means 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, each one signed off in your logbook. For Kilkishen learners, every EDT lesson starts at your agreed pick-up point, such as home or Kilkishen Cultural Centre.
If you hold one of certain foreign licences, a reduced six-lesson course may apply, so say so when you enquire. The full automatic course is €659.24. Taking lessons a few days apart, rather than all in one week, gives each skill time to sink in.
The EDT guide ↗Test centres within reach of Kilkishen
The Shannon centre is the closest to Kilkishen, 18 km and about 20 minutes by road. Ennis and Woodview in Limerick are both about 25 minutes away, so all three are realistic. Nenagh is the outlier at about 55 minutes. Pick the centre with the date that suits you, and your last lessons move to its area.
Shortly before the test you take the pretest, a one-hour lesson in the area around your chosen centre. Car hire for the test is part of the package, so you sit the test in the car you know. The manual pretest with car hire costs €183.63. You can pay online or by phone when you book it.
Kilkishen roads you will drive
You begin near your pick-up point while the car becomes familiar. Limerick Road follows once you can hold a steady speed and plan for junctions. Clonlea comes into the lessons as well. Toward the end, lessons stretch out toward your test centre, so its area is not new on the day.
Kilkishen Cultural Centre is the meeting point we suggest if home is hard to find. Otherwise, your instructor collects you from home, school or work, whichever you agree. You are dropped back after the hour, and the pick-up is never charged as an extra.
Tulla, Sixmilebridge and Quin are all near Kilkishen, and we teach in each of them. Of those three, Tulla is nearest, 6.7 km in a straight line. If you study or work in one of those towns, you can be collected there instead.

The EDT: a guide
Your EDT logbook gets a signature after every lesson, and over 12 lessons the course record builds up. Keep it safe, because you bring it each time. A signed lesson shows the work is done. Whether you are ready for Shannon, Ennis or Woodview is a different question, and your instructor answers it honestly.
The EDT guide ↗ Preparing for the test ↗A few good questions
Which test centre should I choose from Kilkishen?
