What Tulla lessons include

Our driving lessons in Tulla include pick-up at an agreed point, a full hour with an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car, and honest advice before you book the test.

Collected from school

Saint Joseph's Secondary School students can start each lesson at the school gate. Home or work are fine too, and the pick-up is in the price.

An RSA-approved instructor

An Approved Driving Instructor teaches every lesson, and the car has dual controls. Courthouse Road and Old Ennis Road come in once you feel steady.

Relaxed, patient lessons

Nobody shouts at a learner in our cars. If you are anxious, the lesson slows down, and you only move on when you are comfortable.

Ready for Ennis, or not

Your instructor tells you plainly when you are ready to test in Ennis or Shannon. If you are not, you hear what is missing, with no extra hours sold.

Pick your gearbox

Choose a manual or an automatic. Passing in an automatic gives you code 78, so you can drive only automatics, while passing in a manual covers both.

Have a say in your match

If a female instructor would suit you better, ask when you enquire. Anything else that matters is worth mentioning too.

Manual driving lessons Tulla

A manual course from Tulla opens near your pick-up point with the clutch, the gears and moving off. Courthouse Road and Old Ennis Road follow, giving you practice at junctions, signals and steady speeds. For longer drives, you move on to Limerick Road. Manoeuvres are added one by one. In the last part of the course, lessons head toward Ennis or Shannon so the area around your test centre is familiar. Your instructor tells you when you reach test standard.

Automatic driving lessons Tulla

Automatic driving lessons in Tulla take care of the clutch and gears for you, so your attention can stay on the road and the traffic around you. The course is otherwise the same, from school pick-up to the pretest. Think about the licence first: an automatic pass carries code 78, meaning automatic cars only, and a manual pass covers both. We check automatic availability for Tulla as soon as you enquire.

Getting ready for the test

Ennis or Shannon from Tulla

Ennis is closest: 18.3 km from Tulla, about 20 minutes by road. Shannon is further at 33 km but only about 25 minutes, while Woodview in Limerick, at 30.1 km, takes about 35. Nenagh, at about 50 minutes, is the furthest of the four. Whichever you book, the last lessons spend time in its area.

The pretest is a one-hour lesson in the area around your chosen centre, shortly before the test, with car hire for the test included. That way you sit the test in the car you know. For a manual, the pretest package costs €183.63, and you can book it online or on 021 2355558.

Learning in Tulla

Tulla roads, first lesson to test

Lessons begin near your pick-up point while you get used to the controls. With moving off and stopping settled, Courthouse Road and Old Ennis Road are next. Limerick Road follows for longer drives. Towards the end, lessons head for Ennis or Shannon, to match your test centre.

Saint Joseph's Secondary School is the one meeting point we name for Tulla, useful if you are a student there. Home and work are just as easy to arrange. After the hour you are dropped back, with nothing added for the pick-up.

We also teach in Kilkishen, Quin and Crusheen. In a straight line, Kilkishen is the closest at 6.7 km. If you live in Tulla but work in one of those towns, your instructor can collect you there and bring you home.

The EDT: a guide

Every EDT lesson gets a signature in your logbook, so the course record grows as you go. It travels with you to each lesson, so keep it safe. The course is complete at twelve signatures. Being ready for the test at Ennis or Shannon is judged separately, and your instructor gives you a straight answer.

Tulla questions

A few good questions

I go to Saint Joseph's Secondary School. Can my lessons start there?

Yes. Settle it when you book, and your instructor will be waiting at the school at the start of each lesson. You can be dropped home afterwards, at no extra cost.

Is Shannon quicker to reach than Woodview from Tulla?

Yes. Shannon is about 25 minutes by road, against about 35 for Woodview, even though Shannon is slightly further in distance. Ennis, about 20 minutes away, is the nearest of all.

Will a driving instructor in Tulla push me to book the test early?

No. Your instructor tells you honestly when you are ready, and what is missing when you are not. We do not sell extra hours, and we do not rush you into a test you are not ready for.

What should I have ready for my first lesson?

Your learner permit from the NDLS, which you can apply for once you pass the theory test. To book, fill in the form or call 021 2355558, and we match you with an instructor for Tulla.
