Driving lessons in Quin, done properly

Our driving lessons in Quin start where you are, go at the pace you need and end with honest advice from an Approved Driving Instructor about the test.

Collection is included

Your instructor can meet you at St. Fineen's Parochial Hall, or at home, school or work, and the price covers it.

Taught by an approved ADI

An Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA, teaches every lesson in a dual-controlled car. You can start on Main Street knowing there is a second brake.

Gentle with nerves

Lessons stay calm, and nobody raises their voice. If something feels hard, you repeat it until it does not, before anything new comes in.

Truthful test advice

Ennis is close, so it is tempting to book early. Your instructor tells you honestly when you are ready, and names anything that is still missing.

Manual and automatic both taught

Choose either for EDT, the pretest and the test at Ennis or Shannon. An automatic pass adds code 78, so your licence covers automatics only.

Have your say

Tell us what matters when you enquire, from wanting a female instructor to being nervous about the first lesson. It helps us match you.

Manual driving lessons Quin

A manual course from Quin begins with the clutch, the gears and pulling away cleanly near your pick-up point. From there, Main Street and Limerick Road teach junctions, signals and keeping an even speed. Blackweir Bridge comes in as your confidence grows. Later in the course, the Ennis Western Relief Road gives you time at higher speeds, and some lessons cover the area around the Ennis centre. When you reach test standard, your instructor tells you plainly.

Automatic driving lessons Quin

Automatic driving lessons in Quin take the clutch out of the lesson, so you can put your attention on planning, observation and road position. You still prepare for Ennis or Shannon the same way. Think about the licence before deciding. An automatic pass comes with code 78, which restricts you to automatic cars, and a manual pass covers both. Tell us you want an automatic, and we confirm a car and instructor for Quin.

Getting ready for the test

The Ennis test, close to Quin

From Quin, the Ennis centre is closest, at 10.2 km and about 10 minutes by road. Shannon takes about 20 minutes, Woodview in Limerick about 30. Kilrush, at about 50 minutes, is a long way to go for a test. If Shannon has an earlier date, it is a sensible second option.

Booked shortly before the test, the pretest is an hour of driving in the area around your centre. It comes with car hire for the test, so you sit it in the car you already know well. The manual pretest with car hire costs €183.63, and it is booked like any other lesson.

Learning in Quin

Quin roads, then the relief road

The opening lessons keep you near your pick-up point until the car feels familiar. Main Street and Limerick Road follow once you can move off and stop smoothly. Blackweir Bridge adds a little variety. Later, the Ennis Western Relief Road gives you practice at higher speeds before your test.

St. Fineen's Parochial Hall is the meeting point we name for Quin, if home is awkward to find. Home, school or work are equally fine. Your instructor drops you back after the lesson, at the same point or another agreed one, and the pick-up is never extra.

Newmarket-on-Fergus and Kilkishen, both close to Quin, are towns we teach in too. Newmarket-on-Fergus is 6.8 km away in a straight line. If you work there or in Ennis, you can be collected at work and dropped home afterwards. The price list is the same in each.

The EDT: a guide

Your logbook is where Essential Driver Training is recorded, one signature for each lesson. Bring it every time. It fills over 12 lessons, and then the course is complete. Being ready for Ennis is a separate judgement, and your instructor gives you an honest answer on that, without dragging the course out.

Quin questions

A few good questions

How long does it take to drive from Quin to the Ennis test centre?

Around 10 minutes, covering 10.2 km by road. That makes Ennis the nearest centre. Shannon, about 20 minutes away, is the next choice if you want an earlier date, and your pretest follows whichever you book.

Can I meet my instructor at St. Fineen's Parochial Hall?

Yes. Agree it as your pick-up point when you book, and your instructor meets you there. You can be dropped back there or at home after the hour, at no extra cost.

Will a driving instructor in Quin take me on faster roads?

Yes, once you are ready. The Ennis Western Relief Road comes into the later lessons, so you get used to higher speeds, merging and keeping a safe gap before the test.

Can I give driving lessons as a gift to someone in Quin?

Yes. Gift vouchers come in 1, 3, 6 or 12 lessons, for a manual or an automatic. The person who receives one is collected at an agreed point in Quin, like any other learner.
