Driving lessons Lahinch
How we teach in Lahinch
Driving lessons in Lahinch with us mean one hour of driving each time, collection from your agreed point, and an Approved Driving Instructor who tells you how you are really doing.
Pick-up at home or work
Name the point, home, school or work, and your instructor collects you there. It is part of the lesson price, so being in Lahinch costs you nothing extra.
An approved instructor
Each hour is with an Approved Driving Instructor in a car with dual controls. Your first steady drives along the Promenade happen with that extra brake beside you.
Calm, never rushed
If you are anxious about driving, tell us. The lesson slows down, the instructions stay clear, and nobody raises their voice.
Honest before Ennis
The drive to the Ennis centre takes about 30 minutes, so we do not book you in before you are ready. When you are, we say so, without selling extra hours.
Manual or automatic
Choose either car for EDT and the pretest near Ennis. Passing in an automatic means code 78 on your licence, so you could drive only automatics, while a manual pass covers both.
A female instructor on request
If a female instructor would help you feel comfortable, ask when you enquire. We also want to hear anything else that matters before your first lesson.

Manual driving lessons Lahinch
A manual course from Lahinch starts with the basics: pedals, gears, mirrors and moving off without a stall. Once that is steady, the Promenade and Rue D'Arzon give you space to practise junctions and steady speeds. Slipper Street joins in later. As your judgement improves, lessons cover longer drives, and some head out toward Ennis so the trip to the test centre becomes routine. We tell you honestly when your driving is at test standard.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Lahinch
Automatic driving lessons in Lahinch take the clutch out of the equation, which can make the first few hours feel much less busy. You still learn every skill the test checks, and you still prepare in the area around the Ennis centre. Think about the licence, though: an automatic pass carries code 78, limiting you to automatic cars, and a manual pass covers both. We confirm an automatic for Lahinch when you enquire.

Getting ready for the test
The Ennis test, from Lahinch
From Lahinch, Ennis is your nearest centre: 31.1 km, or about 30 minutes, by road. Kilrush comes next at about 40 minutes, then Shannon at about 45 and Woodview in Limerick at about 60. If Kilrush offers an earlier date, it is worth considering, and your later lessons can move to its area.

Learning in Lahinch
Lahinch roads and further out
Early lessons stay near your pick-up point while the controls become familiar. The Promenade and Rue D'Arzon come next, then Slipper Street, as your steering and speed control settle. Later lessons go further, including the drive toward Ennis, so longer drives on unfamiliar roads stop feeling new.
You do not need a landmark to be collected in Lahinch. Your instructor picks you up from home, school or work, whichever you agree, and drops you back at the end. Changing the point for one lesson is fine if you tell us in advance.
Ennistymon and Milltown Malbay are close to Lahinch, and we teach in both. Ennistymon is the closer one, only 3.6 km from Lahinch in a straight line. If you work or study in Ennistymon, we can collect you there and bring you home to Lahinch after the hour.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
Every EDT lesson finishes with your instructor signing your logbook. Over 12 lessons the book fills up, and you keep it with you the whole time. The signatures show the course is being done. Your readiness for the Ennis test is a separate question, answered honestly by your instructor, who will not pad the course with extra hours.

How many minutes is Ennis from Lahinch by road?

Is a driving instructor in Lahinch patient with nervous learners?
Yes. Calm teaching is how we work with everyone. Tell us you are nervous when you enquire, and the early lessons stay near your pick-up point until you are ready to do more.
Could I learn in an automatic in Lahinch instead?
You can ask for one when you get in touch, and we confirm the car and instructor for Lahinch. An automatic pass gives a licence with code 78, which covers automatic cars only.
