Driving lessons Sixmilebridge
Sixmilebridge lessons, plainly put
Our driving lessons in Sixmilebridge give you an hour behind the wheel each time, with an Approved Driving Instructor, a dual-controlled car and pick-up at a point you agree.
Met at the station
Sixmilebridge station works well as a pick-up point if you travel by train, and home, school or work are fine too. Collection is part of the lesson price.
A second set of pedals
An Approved Driving Instructor sits beside you in a dual-controlled car. With that in place, The Low Road can be one of your first proper drives.
Patience you can count on
You will never be shouted at. If nerves get in the way, your instructor slows down and keeps each step small.
Honesty about Shannon or Woodview
When you are ready for Shannon or Woodview, your instructor says so. When you are not, you hear what is missing, and we never sell hours you do not need.
Gearbox of your choice
Manual and automatic cars are both taught for the Shannon test. Choose automatic and your licence will carry code 78 after the test, limiting you to automatics; a manual pass covers both.
Matched to your needs
Say what you would like when you enquire, including a female instructor if you prefer. We take it into account when we match you.

Manual driving lessons Sixmilebridge
Manual lessons from Sixmilebridge start with the controls: clutch, gears and moving off smoothly from your pick-up point. The Low Road and Rossmangher Road then give you room to practise junctions, mirror checks and steady speeds. Later lessons cross Annagore Bridge. Manoeuvres are added one at a time. Near the end of the course, lessons spend time in the area around the Shannon or Woodview centre, depending on which you booked. Reach test standard and you hear it from us plainly.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Sixmilebridge
Automatic driving lessons in Sixmilebridge remove the clutch, which lets you put your full attention on the road from the first hour. You still cover every skill the test asks for. Consider the licence before you choose. An automatic pass carries code 78, which means automatic cars only, while a manual pass lets you drive both. We confirm whether an automatic car and instructor are free for Sixmilebridge when you enquire.

Holders of certain foreign licences may qualify for a reduced course of six lessons, so tell us which licence you hold. If you learn in an automatic, the course is €659.24. Spreading the lessons over a few weeks gives each skill time to settle.

Learning in Sixmilebridge
Sixmilebridge roads to learn on
You begin close to where you are collected, until the car feels familiar. The Low Road and Rossmangher Road follow when you can hold a steady speed. Annagore Bridge adds variety later on. In the closing lessons you drive toward Shannon or Woodview, so the test area is not new.
Sixmilebridge station is the one meeting point we name, handy if you commute by train. Home, school or work are just as easy. Your instructor drops you back at the end of the hour, at the station or somewhere else agreed, and the pick-up is free.
Cratloe and Kilkishen are two more of our towns nearby. In a straight line, Cratloe is 4.8 km from here and Kilkishen 7.5 km. If your job is in Shannon, also nearby, we can collect you there instead of at home.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
Your logbook is the record of your 12 EDT lessons, signed by your instructor at the end of each. Keep it with you and bring it every time. A full logbook shows the course is finished. Whether you are ready to test at Shannon is a separate call, and your instructor makes it honestly.

Sixmilebridge questions
A few good questions
Can my instructor meet me at Sixmilebridge station?
Yes. Agree the station as your pick-up point when you book, and your instructor meets you there at the start of the hour. You can be dropped back at the station or at home, at no extra cost.
Which test centres can a Sixmilebridge learner choose from?
The closest is Shannon, 9 km and about 10 minutes by road. Woodview in Limerick is the next option at about 15 minutes. Either works well, so the choice usually comes down to which offers the earlier date.
Does a driving instructor in Sixmilebridge teach nervous adults?
Yes. Adults returning to driving after years away are welcome, and the teaching stays calm. Tell us about your nerves when you enquire, and your first lessons stay close to your pick-up point.
How do I get started?
Start with the theory test, and once it is passed, apply to the NDLS for your learner permit. With the permit in hand, use the form on this page or call 021 2355558, and we match you with an instructor.
