Manual lessons begin with the controls, moving off and stopping, close to where we collect you. Over the next few lessons you add gear changes, junctions and turns, then longer drives on Old Clonakilty Road and Kilbrogan Hill. Once you hold the car steady, we work on the skills the test looks for, like observation, mirrors and speed. You pay €53.27 for each one-hour manual lesson. We tell you when your driving is at test standard, and only when it is.

We offer automatic driving lessons in Bandon for learners who would rather leave the gears out of it. With no clutch to work, more of your attention goes on mirrors, signals and the road ahead. Passing in an automatic gives you a code 78 licence, which covers automatic cars only. If you might drive a manual later, weigh that up before you start. Instructor times vary from town to town, so your instructor and car are confirmed at enquiry.

EDT lessons in Bandon
With a learner permit, you have to finish Essential Driver Training before you can sit the test. That means 12 one-hour lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, each signed off in your logbook as you go. In Bandon we start them from the Town Hall or your agreed point, the same as any other lesson.
Some foreign licence holders qualify for a reduced course of six lessons instead. Tell us which licence you hold when you get in touch, and we will say which course applies to you. Either way, the logbook stays with you, and each lesson is signed off before the next one.

The nearest driving test centre to Bandon is Wilton, about 27.3 km and 25 minutes by road. Skibbereen is the next nearest, about 52.6 km and 50 minutes away, and it may have an earlier date. The Mallow centre is about 60 minutes by road if neither suits. Ask us before you pick one.
Shortly before your test, the pretest gives you a one-hour lesson in the area around your centre, followed by car hire for the test itself. You sit the test in the car you practised in, with no hire to sort out yourself. Tell us your test date and we book the pretest around it.
Learning on Bandon's roads
Lessons start close to your pick-up point, so the early ones stay simple: moving off, stopping and turning at junctions. As you settle, lessons take in Casement Road and South Main Street for more turns and junctions. Old Clonakilty Road and Kilbrogan Hill follow, for longer drives where you plan ahead.
We can collect you from Bandon Town Hall if that is easiest, or agree another point in town such as home, school or work. Drop-off works the same way. There is no extra charge for either, as pick-up is part of the lesson price.
We also teach learners in Innishannon, 5.8 km away in a straight line, and further out in Kinsale and Clonakilty. If you live between towns, tell us where you are and we will agree a pick-up point that works for you.

Your EDT logbook is the record of your training. Your instructor signs off each of the 12 lessons as you complete it, and the book stays with you. If you lose track of where you are, bring it along and we will go through it together before you think about a Wilton date.

Yes. Bandon Town Hall is an easy point to agree, and we can also collect you from home, school or work in Bandon. Pick-up and drop-off are part of the lesson price, so there is nothing extra to pay.
How many lessons will I need before my test in Bandon?
