Driving lessons Courtmacsherry
Lessons from home in Courtmacsherry
Our driving lessons in Courtmacsherry start at an agreed pick-up point, which can be your home or your work. Each hour is spent with an Approved Driving Instructor, and the car has dual controls.
Collected at home
We pick you up at home or at work and bring you back to the same spot when the hour is up. The pick-up is part of the lesson price, not an extra.
Approved, dual-controlled
An Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA, sits beside you for every lesson. Dual controls are fitted, so you can start out on Church Road knowing the instructor can brake too.
Your pace, every time
Nobody shouts, and a nervous start is fine with us. You only take on Harbour View Causeway once the basics feel solid, and nobody hurries you there.
Ready when you are
We tell you honestly when you are fit for a test at Skibbereen or Wilton. If not, we spell out exactly what is missing.
Pick your gearbox
We teach both types. Choose automatic and your licence carries code 78, limiting you to automatic cars; choose manual and you can drive either.
Who you learn with
Tell us what matters to you when you enquire, including a preference for a female instructor. We will be clear about what we can arrange before anything is booked.

Manual driving lessons Courtmacsherry
Manual lessons start with the basics close to home: the pedals, the gears, moving off and stopping. After that you work on Main Street and Church Road, adding junctions and turns as you go. Later lessons take in Harbour View Causeway and longer drives that build your judgement and planning. When you can drive a full hour safely with little help, we tell you that you are at test standard. Until then, we tell you what still needs work.

Automatic driving lessons Courtmacsherry
Our automatic driving lessons in Courtmacsherry follow the same pick-up arrangement as manual ones. Without a clutch, you can give your full attention to mirrors, signals and speed. Bear in mind that an automatic pass gives a code 78 licence, for automatic cars only, while a manual pass covers both. Instructor times differ from town to town, so the instructor and car for automatic lessons are settled once you get in touch.

EDT lessons in Courtmacsherry
12EDT lessons6Reduced EDT
Every learner permit holder must complete Essential Driver Training, 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, before sitting the test. Your instructor signs each lesson off in your logbook as you go. For a learner in Courtmacsherry, each EDT lesson starts and ends at your agreed pick-up point.
In a manual, all 12 lessons together cost €587.95. If you hold certain foreign licences, you may qualify for a shorter course of six lessons, and we check that with you at the start. Once EDT is signed off and your driving is ready, we look at dates at Skibbereen and Wilton.

Getting ready for the test
Two centres, almost level
For a test from Courtmacsherry you have two real options. Skibbereen is about 46.4 km and 45 minutes by road, and Wilton is about 46.1 km and 50 minutes. With so little between them, the earlier date can decide it. The Mallow centre is further, at about 85 minutes by road.
Whichever centre you choose, the pretest comes shortly before the test. You get a one-hour lesson in the area around that centre, then the same car for the test. Nothing about the car is new on the day. We book it as soon as your test date is confirmed, at whichever centre.

Learning in Courtmacsherry
Where Courtmacsherry lessons go
Lessons start close to your home, on Main Street or Church Road, where you can practise moving off, stopping and turning. As your control improves, we bring in Harbour View Causeway, then longer drives as you build experience and confidence.
There is no fixed meeting point here. We collect you from home, or from work if that is easier, and bring you back to the same place after the lesson. Tell us the address when you enquire and we agree the pick-up then.
Bandon is 12.8 km away in a straight line, and we teach there, in Clonakilty and in Kinsale too. If your school or work is in one of those towns, it may be easier to start lessons there. Mention it when you get in touch.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
This is the kind of logbook you fill during EDT. There is a place for each of the 12 lessons, and your instructor signs each one off as you finish it. Keep it with your learner permit so it is to hand whenever we collect you from home or work.

Courtmacsherry questions
A few good questions
Will the instructor collect me from my house in Courtmacsherry?
Yes. With no meeting point to arrange, we collect you from home or work and drop you back after the lesson. That pick-up and drop-off is included in the price, so there is nothing to add.
Should I sit my test in Skibbereen or Wilton from Courtmacsherry?
There is little in it. Skibbereen is about 45 minutes by road and Wilton about 50, and the distances are almost the same. Pick the one with the earlier date, and we hold the pretest in the area around whichever you choose.
Can I get a driving instructor in Courtmacsherry for EDT?
Yes. Your Approved Driving Instructor collects you in Courtmacsherry for each of the 12 EDT lessons and signs them off in your logbook. If you hold a foreign licence, ask whether a shorter course applies to you.
Is a female instructor possible for lessons from Courtmacsherry?
You can ask, and we take the request seriously. Instructor times vary by town, so we confirm what we can arrange when you enquire rather than promise it here. Tell us anything else that matters to you at the same time.
