Driving lessons Scariff
Scariff lessons, the short version
Each of our driving lessons in Scariff lasts an hour, starts at your agreed pick-up point and is taught by an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car.
Pick-up on Market Square
The Centra on Market Square makes an easy meeting point, though home, school or work are fine. You are collected and dropped back for the price of the lesson.
A second brake beside you
Your Approved Driving Instructor has dual controls, so you can drive over Scarriff Bridge early on with someone ready to help.
Unflustered lessons
Calm teaching is the rule. If you are nervous, you take each skill slowly and only move on when it feels comfortable.
Three centres, one honest answer
Whichever centre you aim for, Ennis, Woodview or Nenagh, you hear honestly when it is time to book. If you are not, we name the gap and sell you nothing extra.
Manual or automatic choice
Both are taught for EDT and the pretest. A manual pass covers both kinds of car, while an automatic pass gives code 78, so automatics only.
The instructor you want
Ask for a female instructor when you enquire, if that would help. Anything else that matters to you is worth telling us before the first lesson.

Manual driving lessons Scariff
Manual lessons from Scariff start with smooth control: clutch, gears and pulling away near your pick-up point. Market Square and Scarriff Bridge give you early practice at junctions, mirror checks and steady speeds. As you improve, the drives grow longer, which matters here because every test centre is about 40 minutes away. Manoeuvres come in one at a time. The last lessons cover the area around the centre you booked. We tell you clearly when you are ready.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Scariff
With automatic driving lessons in Scariff, the car handles the gears, so you can focus on observation and planning from the first hour. That can help on the longer drives toward a test centre. Before choosing, consider the licence. An automatic pass carries code 78 and limits you to automatic cars, and a manual pass lets you drive both. We confirm the car and instructor for Scariff when you get in touch.

EDT lessons in Scariff
Essential Driver Training comes before the test for every learner permit holder: 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, each signed off in your logbook. From Scariff, every lesson starts at the Centra, at home, or wherever else we agree.
If you hold one of certain foreign licences, a reduced six-lesson course may be all you need, so mention it when you get in touch. A manual EDT course costs €587.95 in total. Some of the later EDT lessons can include longer drives, which helps with the distance to the test centre.

Getting ready for the test
Three centres from Scariff
From Scariff, three centres are about the same drive: Ennis at 35.6 km, Woodview in Limerick at 35.7 km and Nenagh at 37.6 km, each about 40 minutes by road. Shannon takes about 45 minutes. With so little between them, book whichever offers the date that suits you, and the later lessons follow it.
The pretest gives you one hour of driving in the area around your test centre, shortly before the test, with car hire for the test included. That way the car on test day is the one you know. In a manual, the pretest and the car together cost €183.63. Payment can be made online or by phone.

Learning in Scariff
Scariff roads and longer drives
Lesson one begins near your pick-up point, with time to learn the controls. Market Square and Scarriff Bridge follow, once moving off and stopping feel easy. The longer drives come later, toward Ennis, Woodview or Nenagh, depending on where you have booked your test.
We can collect you from the Centra on Market Square if that is easier than home. School and work are fine too. Your instructor drops you back after the hour, at the same point or another agreed in advance, and the pick-up costs nothing extra.
Tuamgraney, 1.5 km away in a straight line, is one of our towns too. Killaloe and Ballina are further, but lessons there work the same way. If you work in Killaloe, we can collect you there instead of at home.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
Every EDT lesson ends with a signature in your logbook, so you can see the course progress. It comes with you to every lesson. After 12 signatures, the course is complete. Whether you are ready for Ennis, Woodview or Nenagh is judged separately, and your instructor tells you honestly, without inventing reasons to delay.

Scariff questions
A few good questions
Which centre should I book from Scariff?
Ennis, Woodview and Nenagh are all about 40 minutes by road, between 35.6 km and 37.6 km away. That gives you a real choice, so book the one with the date that suits, and the pretest is planned there.

Yes. Choose it when we agree your pick-up point. Your instructor meets you at the start of the lesson and drops you back there or at home, at no extra cost.
Do lessons in Scariff cost the same as in Ennis?
Yes. We charge one price list in every Munster town, and collecting you at your agreed point in Scariff is included. You can pay online or by phone, and gift vouchers are available too.
Can a driving instructor in Scariff teach me in an automatic?
Automatics are taught across Munster, but instructor times vary by town. Ask for one when you enquire, and we confirm the car and instructor for Scariff before you book your first hour.
