Ballina lessons, plainly put

Our driving lessons in Ballina run for an hour, with an Approved Driving Instructor beside you in a dual-controlled car. You are collected, you set the pace, and you hear honestly when the test is within reach.

Pick-up at Ballina National School

You can agree Ballina National School as your meeting point, or choose home or work. Collection and drop-off are already in the lesson price.

RSA-approved, second brake

Every lesson has an Approved Driving Instructor beside you, with a brake on their side of the car. That covers your first slow drives on Main Street and every lesson after.

Calm at every stage

Learners who feel anxious are given time. Your instructor keeps a calm voice, and Killaloe Bridge waits until you are comfortable with the basics.

Honest before Nenagh

When your driving is up to the test at Nenagh or Woodview, we tell you. When it is not, you hear exactly what to work on.

Your gearbox, your licence

Learn in a manual and you can drive either kind of car afterwards. Learn in an automatic and the licence carries code 78, automatics only.

Preferences count here

If a female instructor would put you at ease, tell us when you enquire. We consider that, and anything else you mention, before we match you.

Manual driving lessons Ballina

Manual lessons from Ballina start near your pick-up, working on clutch control, gears and smooth braking until moving off feels natural. Then you add junctions, roundabouts and reversing. Main Street and Bridge Street are part of the early drives, with Killaloe Bridge and the Killaloe Bypass coming in as your observation and speed control improve. Your instructor ends each hour by setting out the next step. Toward the test, lessons move into the area around Nenagh or Woodview, whichever you choose.

Automatic driving lessons Ballina

Automatic driving lessons in Ballina take gear changes out of the job, which suits learners who want to focus on the road from day one. The test is the same. The licence is where it shows: code 78 after an automatic pass, limiting you to automatic cars, and no limit after a manual pass. Tell us your choice when you enquire, and we check which automatic instructor can teach in Ballina.

Learning in Ballina

Ballina roads you will cover

The first hour stays close to your pick-up point, so the controls have your full attention. Main Street and Bridge Street come next. As your judgement grows, the drives take in Killaloe Bridge and the Killaloe Bypass, each brought in when you are ready for it.

Ballina National School is the meeting point we can name for you, and home and work are just as easy. Let us know which when you book. You are dropped back at the same point, or another agreed one, at no extra cost.

Killaloe in County Clare is just 0.7 km away in a straight line, and Montpelier in Limerick 7.6 km. Lessons run in both, with the same pick-up and the same prices, so learners there book with us exactly as you do.

Ballina questions

A few good questions

Is Nenagh or Woodview quicker from Ballina?

Nenagh, at about 20 minutes by road. Woodview in Limerick takes about 30. Either can be your test centre, so check both for dates before you apply, and we plan your pretest for the one you pick.

What pick-up points can I use in Ballina?

Home, work or Ballina National School, agreed when you book. Your instructor collects you there and drops you back afterwards, and the pick-up never adds anything to the price you pay.

Do you teach learners in Killaloe too?

Yes. Killaloe, 0.7 km from Ballina in a straight line, is one of our Clare towns, and learners there are collected in Killaloe itself. The price list is the same on both sides of the county line.
