You get a one-hour lesson with an RSA-approved instructor, starting from an agreed point in Blarney. Two test centres are close: Wilton about 20 minutes away, the Mallow centre about 25.
Choosing lessons in Blarney
Picking a driving school in Blarney should mean knowing what you pay for. With us it is a one-hour lesson, pick-up included, and an honest word on your progress.
Collected from the community centre
We can pick you up at Blarney Community Centre, or at home, school or work if you agree it with us. Drop-off at the end of the lesson is included too.
RSA-approved, dual-controlled
Your instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor, and the car is dual-controlled. When you first drive Shournagh Road, your instructor can step in with the brake if it is ever needed.
No shouting, ever
We keep lessons calm. Nervous learners set the pace, and nobody moves you onto Model Farm Road until the basics feel comfortable.
When you are ready, we say
You hear from us when you are ready to sit the test at Wilton or the Mallow centre. If you are not ready, we say what is missing.
Two ways to learn
Our instructors teach manual and automatic. Pass in a manual and you can drive both; pass in an automatic and your licence carries code 78.
Ask for what you need
When you enquire, tell us what matters most to you. You can request a female instructor, and we are clear about what is possible before you book.

Manual driving lessons Blarney
In a manual, the first hours cover moving off, stopping and clutch control, starting from Blarney Community Centre or your home. You then build up to Blarney Road and Station Road, where junctions and gear changes become routine. Each lesson ends with a quick summary of where you are and what comes next. We will not rush you towards a test date. When your driving is at test standard, we tell you so.

Automatic driving lessons in Blarney take the clutch out of the picture, so more of your attention goes on the road and the mirrors. A pass in an automatic carries code 78, which limits you to automatic cars. One hour in an automatic costs €61.41. If you think you will ever need a manual for work, choose manual lessons instead. Tell us at enquiry and we confirm the instructor and car.

Blarney lesson prices
Prices are on the tickets below, and the list is the same from one town to the next. Pay for a single lesson, a course or a pretest, online or by phone.
EDT lessons in Blarney
Essential Driver Training is 12 one-hour lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, required of learner permit holders before the test. Each is signed off in your logbook once it is done. From Blarney, your instructor collects you for each one at the point you agreed.
The tickets show the full 12-lesson course in manual and automatic. If you hold a licence from another country, ask whether the reduced course of six lessons applies to you. We will check before you book anything. Pick-up is included in every one.
The EDT guide ↗Sitting your test from Blarney
From Blarney you have two centres at almost the same distance in time. Wilton is about 10.8 km and 20 minutes by road; the Mallow centre is about 28.3 km and 25 minutes. Pick the one that offers the date you want, and we prepare you for it. The choice is yours.
A pretest is a one-hour lesson in the area around your chosen centre, booked shortly before the test. It includes the hire of the car for the test itself, so you drive the same car you practised in. Mitchelstown, about 50 minutes away, is a further option if neither date suits.
Lessons on Blarney's roads
Your first lessons keep things simple, starting from where you are collected. Over the following weeks you move onto Shournagh Road and Blarney Road, then Model Farm Road as your confidence grows. Your instructor decides each step with you, not for you.
Blarney Community Centre is the meeting point we use if home pick-up does not suit. You can also be collected from school or work, as long as we agree the point when you book. The drop-off can be somewhere else if that helps.
We also teach in towns near Blarney, including Cork City at 7.6 km and Ballygarvan at 14.1 km, both straight-line distances. Innishannon is a little further out. If you split your week between two places, tell us and we will plan around it.

The EDT: a guide
Your logbook is where your EDT progress is kept. Each completed lesson is signed off as you go, so neither you nor your instructor has to guess what comes next. Bring it along to every lesson. When all 12 are signed and you are at test standard, you are ready for Wilton or the Mallow centre.
