Driving lessonsRingaskiddy
We tell you honestly when you are ready for your test, and what is missing until then. Lessons start from an agreed point in Ringaskiddy, with an RSA-approved instructor.
What lessons in Ringaskiddy include
Each of our driving lessons in Ringaskiddy is one hour with an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car. Pick-up, drop-off and an honest word on your progress come with it.
Start at the community centre
Lessons can begin at Ringaskiddy Community Centre if that is easier than home. School or work pick-up is fine by arrangement, and you are dropped back at no extra cost.
Dual-controlled, ADI-taught
The RSA approves your instructor, and the car has dual controls. That helps when you first take on Strand Street and want someone ready to step in.
Calm, never rushed
We keep the tone calm and never shout. If you are nervous, the lesson goes at your speed, and something new is added only when the last skill feels settled.
Straight talk before Wilton
Wilton is about 20 minutes away, and we suggest applying for it only when you are ready. If you are not there yet, we say exactly what is missing.
Automatic or manual, both taught
We teach both types of car. An automatic pass means a code 78 licence, which does not cover manuals, while a manual pass lets you drive either.
Your instructor preferences
Mention what matters to you when you get in touch, from a female instructor to the type of car. We will say honestly what we can arrange.

Manual driving lessons Ringaskiddy
Manual lessons from Ringaskiddy start with the controls and the clutch, close to your pick-up point. Then lessons take in Curraghbinny Road and Crosshaven Road, adding junctions, gear changes and reversing as you improve. You get a short, honest summary after each lesson, so you know what the next one is for. When you reach test standard, we tell you, and if you have not, we explain why and what to practise.

Automatic driving lessons in Ringaskiddy last an hour, like manual ones, and a single lesson is €61.41. With no clutch or gears, you can give more attention to observation and road position. Keep in mind that an automatic pass carries code 78, so your licence will cover automatic cars only. We confirm the instructor and car at enquiry. If you are unsure which to choose, ask us when you call.

EDT lessons in Ringaskiddy
Essential Driver Training is the 12 lessons every learner permit holder completes with an Approved Driving Instructor before the test. Your logbook records each one, signed by your instructor once you finish it. We collect you for every one of them, from Ringaskiddy Community Centre or from home.
If you are coming from another country, you may only need the reduced six-lesson course, depending on your licence. Ask us when you enquire, and we will check it before you pay for anything. Either way, the logbook works the same.
The EDT guide ↗Driving tests from Ringaskiddy
From Ringaskiddy, Wilton is about 19 km by road, or about 20 minutes. The Mallow centre and Mitchelstown are each about 50 minutes away. You choose where to apply, and a further centre may sometimes offer an earlier date than Wilton does. Your preparation is the same whichever one you choose.
Shortly before the test, you book a pretest: one hour of driving in the area around your centre. It also covers hiring the car for the test itself. That way, the car you are tested in is the one you have been learning in. We suggest booking it once you are close to test standard.
Learning around Ringaskiddy
Early lessons start close to where you are picked up and focus on getting comfortable. From there you drive Strand Street and Curraghbinny Road, and later Crosshaven Road, as your junctions and observation improve week by week. Your instructor sets the pace with you.
If home pick-up does not suit, we can meet you at Ringaskiddy Community Centre instead. Collection from school or work is also possible by arrangement, and the drop-off is included too. Tell us which you prefer when you book, and say if it changes from one lesson to the next.
We teach in the surrounding towns too. Cobh is 2.8 km away, Crosshaven 3.6 km and Passage West 4.7 km, all in a straight line. Tell us if you live in one and work in another, and we will agree a sensible pick-up.

The EDT: a guide
The EDT logbook is the written record of your training. Each of the 12 lessons is signed off by your instructor as you finish it, so there is no doubt about what you have done. Bring it with you to lessons. Once it is complete and you are at test standard, we will say so.
