Driving lessons Midleton
Midleton lessons at a glance
We run driving lessons in Midleton the same way each time: one hour, an Approved Driving Instructor and pick-up included. What changes from week to week is the plan, which follows your progress.
Pick-up at Midleton station
Pick-up and drop-off are in the lesson price. We can meet you at Midleton station, or collect you from home, school or work by arrangement.
RSA-approved instructors
Each lesson is with an Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA. The car has a second set of pedals on the instructor's side, from your opening drive along Connolly Street onwards.
Calm hours, your pace
No one raises their voice in our cars. If nerves are the problem, early lessons keep to Mill Road and Bailick Road until you want more.
We say when you're ready
With Wilton only about 25 minutes away, it is tempting to book early. We tell you honestly if you are ready, and what is missing if you are not.
Two gearboxes on offer
Learn in whichever car you like. A manual licence covers both kinds of car, while an automatic licence carries code 78 and covers automatics only.
Choose what matters
Tell us when you enquire what you want from an instructor, a female instructor included, and we confirm who can take you.

Manual driving lessons Midleton
Manual lessons in Midleton build in stages. You begin with the clutch, gears and moving off near your pick-up point. As your control improves, lessons add Saint Mary's Road and Connolly Street. Each lesson picks up where the last one stopped, and you always know what the next will cover. Once you can manage an hour at test standard with little help, we say so plainly. A manual hour costs €53.27, the same as in every town we teach.

Automatic driving lessons Midleton
Our automatic driving lessons in Midleton suit learners who want fewer controls to think about while they learn. Before you decide, know the rule: an automatic pass gives a code 78 licence, which covers automatic cars only, while a manual pass covers both. We teach automatic for EDT and the pretest as well. Instructor times vary by town, so we confirm your automatic instructor and car when you enquire.

Getting ready for the test
Your test at Wilton, 25 minutes away
Wilton is the nearest test centre to Midleton, about 25 minutes and 27.7 km by road. If you want an earlier date, Dungarvan and Mitchelstown are both about 45 minutes away, and the Mallow centre about 50. We prepare you for whichever centre you apply to. The choice is yours, and it does not change the price.
Before the test, the pretest gives you an hour of driving in the area around the centre, then the same car for the test. You arrive having just driven, in a car you know well. Tell us your test date as soon as it comes through, and we book the pretest to fit.

Learning in Midleton
The roads your Midleton lessons use
Your opening hours stay near the pick-up point, on whichever nearby streets suit the skill you are working on. As you progress, lessons move onto Mill Road and Saint Mary's Road, then Connolly Street and Bailick Road. Each new road brings one new thing to practise.
Midleton station is the one meeting point we name, and it works well if you would rather not be collected at home. Otherwise we pick you up from your home, school or work in Midleton, at a point agreed when you book, and drop you back there.
We also teach in Cloyne, 6.6 km from Midleton, and in Castlemartyr and Rostellan, both 7.9 km away. Lessons in each of them run on the same terms as here: one hour, an agreed pick-up point and the same price list.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
The examiner marks faults on a sheet like this one during your test at Wilton. Knowing what it records helps, so before you book we go through where you stand against it, honestly, and tell you what still needs work. That way the sheet holds no surprises for you on the day.
