Driving lessons Rostellan
Getting started in Rostellan
Starting driving lessons in Rostellan takes four steps: theory test, learner permit, a call or form to us, then your first lesson from home. After that, we plan each hour around you.
From your front door
There is no meeting point to find. We collect you from home, or from school or work if you prefer, and the pick-up is part of the price.
Taught by an RSA-approved ADI
An Approved Driving Instructor teaches every lesson, in a car with dual controls, so your early drives on Hillside have a second brake beside you.
Calm, even for nervous starters
We keep lessons calm, and nobody raises their voice. Spital Street comes into your lessons only once the basics feel comfortable, never before.
An honest read on readiness
Wilton is about 30 minutes from Rostellan, and we only suggest booking it when you are ready. If you are not there yet, we tell you what is missing.
Either gearbox
We teach both kinds. With a manual pass you can drive manual and automatic cars, but an automatic pass gives code 78, which keeps you to automatics.
You say what matters
Tell us at enquiry about anything that would help, including a wish for a female instructor. We confirm who is free to teach you before you start.

Manual driving lessons Rostellan
Learning manual from Rostellan, you spend the opening lessons on the controls until moving away and stopping feel easy. Hillside and Spital Street follow, giving you junctions and other traffic to deal with. By the later lessons, you are choosing when to go and where to look without being told. When that happens hour after hour, we tell you that you are close to test standard. The 12-lesson manual EDT course is €587.95, with home pick-up in Rostellan included each time.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Rostellan
If gears and a clutch are putting you off, automatic driving lessons in Rostellan remove both. Your licence will then carry code 78, which means you can drive automatic cars only, so think about whether you might need a manual later. Pick-up from home works exactly as it does for manual. Times for automatic instructors vary by town, and we confirm yours, with the car, when you enquire.

EDT lessons in Rostellan
12EDT lessons6Reduced EDT
EDT means 12 one-hour lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, which every learner permit holder needs before the test. From Rostellan, we collect you from home for each one, and your instructor signs your logbook when the hour is up.
Holders of some foreign licences only need six lessons, so tell us about your licence first. Whichever course you do, you hear honestly how you are getting on as it goes. Reaching the end of EDT never comes as a surprise, and you know what is left before a test.

Getting ready for the test
Your test at Wilton
Wilton is 35.6 km from Rostellan by road, about 30 minutes, which makes it your nearest centre. Dungarvan and Mitchelstown are both about 55 minutes away, and the Mallow centre about 60. They are mainly worth it if an earlier date turns up there. Whichever you pick, your lessons prepare you for it.
Shortly before the test, you have a pretest lesson in the area around the centre, then hire the same car for the test. By the time the test starts, the car, its controls and the area are all familiar. It lasts one hour, and the time is fixed with you once your test date is known.

Learning in Rostellan
From home onto Rostellan's roads
Lessons begin near home, where you can get to know the car without anything new around you. As you improve, we move onto Hillside, and then Spital Street once Hillside feels routine, at a pace you are happy with and never rushed.
We do not use a fixed meeting point in Rostellan. Pick-up is at home as standard, or at your school or workplace if that is easier, always at a point agreed with you. You are dropped back there after the lesson.
We teach in Cloyne, 5.1 km from Rostellan, and in Cobh, 7.4 km away. Midleton, at 7.9 km, is another town where we give lessons. Crosshaven, 8.7 km away in a straight line, is covered as well, all on the same terms.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
This is the logbook you carry through EDT, signed by your instructor after each lesson. Started EDT with another instructor? Bring it to your first lesson from Rostellan, and we can talk through carrying on from where you stopped. Once all 12 entries are signed, EDT is done and the test is the next step.
