Driving lessons Dingle Town
Dingle Town lessons at a glance
Our driving lessons in Dingle Town are planned with Tralee in mind. You make steady progress close to home, then spend time in the area around that centre before your test.
From Pobailscoil Chorca Dhuibhne
Students can be picked up at Pobailscoil Chorca Dhuibhne and dropped back there. Everyone else is collected from home or work, and the agreed pick-up is part of the price.
Approved instructors only
An Approved Driving Instructor sits beside you for every lesson, in a car with dual controls. That gives you room to make mistakes safely while you get used to An tSráid Mhór.
At your own pace
We keep lessons calm and nobody shouts. Nervous learners take as long as they need, and new roads such as Bóthar an Spá come only when you are ready.
Honest before Tralee
Tralee is about 45 minutes by road, so we want your test booked when you are ready, not before. If something is missing, we tell you what it is.
Manual, or automatic with code 78
Both are taught. An automatic is simpler to drive, but the licence that follows an automatic test carries code 78 and excludes manual cars.
Choosing your instructor
If you have preferences about who teaches you, including a female instructor, tell us when you enquire. We confirm your instructor and car at that point, so you know before you start.

Manual driving lessons Dingle Town
A manual course starts with the basics: steering, the clutch, finding gears and stopping smoothly. Once those are steady, your instructor takes you onto An Bóthar Iarainn and An tSráid Mhór to practise junctions, signals and observation. Later lessons build towards longer, more independent drives. Reversing and parking come into it as well, once the rest is steady. In the final stage, we spend time in the area around the Tralee centre, so you have driven there before test day.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Dingle Town
We can talk through automatic driving lessons in Dingle Town when you enquire and confirm the car and instructor then. An automatic changes gear for you, so you can concentrate on positioning, speed and the road ahead. There is a cost to that ease. An automatic test pass carries code 78, which means you may only drive automatics, whereas a manual pass covers both.

Getting ready for the test
Tralee is your nearest centre
From Dingle Town, Tralee is about 48.8 km by road, roughly 45 minutes, and it is the nearest centre by a clear margin. Killarney is about 67.5 km, roughly 75 minutes, and might help if it has an earlier date. Newcastle West is about 95 minutes away and the Mallow centre about 120 minutes.
The pretest gives you a one-hour lesson in the area around your centre shortly before the test, with car hire for the test itself. You sit the test in the car you have practised in. For a Dingle Town learner, that hour is the chance to settle into the area around Tralee before the test begins. Pretest and car hire together come to €183.63 in a manual.

Learning in Dingle Town
Dingle Town roads, one at a time
We start at your pick-up point and stay with the basics until they feel natural. From there your lessons take in An tSráid Mhór and An Bóthar Iarainn, then Bóthar an Spá as your confidence grows. Nothing new is added until you and your instructor agree it is time.
Your pick-up and drop-off point is agreed when you book: home, school or work. Students can choose Pobailscoil Chorca Dhuibhne as their point. Either way, the pick-up is included in the lesson price, and it can be changed if your plans change.
We also teach in Caherciveen, 21.7 km from Dingle Town in a straight line, and in Fenit and Killorglin. Lessons follow the same approach in each, with a pick-up point agreed in that town and one price list for all.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
The logbook is where your EDT is recorded, one signature for each of the 12 lessons. You keep it, and your instructor signs it once each lesson is complete. When it is full, you have the training the test requires. Keep it safe between lessons, because it is your record and you will want it intact before you head to Tralee.

You can. Tell us when you enquire that you would like to be met at the school, and we set it as your pick-up and drop-off point. The cost is covered by the lesson price.
Is Killarney worth considering as a test centre from Dingle Town?
It can be, if Tralee has no date that suits. Killarney is about 75 minutes by road, compared with about 45 for Tralee. Tell us which centre you book, and your pretest will be in the area around it.
