Driving lessons Killorglin
What a Killorglin lesson includes
With our driving lessons in Killorglin, the price covers pick-up and an hour in a dual-controlled car. Your instructor tells you honestly how close you are to test standard.
Collected from college
If you study at Killorglin Community College, your instructor can collect you there. Home and work are fine too, and the agreed pick-up and drop-off cost nothing extra.
Approved and dual-controlled
Each instructor is an Approved Driving Instructor, approved by the RSA. The car has dual controls, so your earliest drives along Langford Street are relaxed rather than tense.
Patient with nerves
If driving makes you anxious, tell us. Nobody shouts, the pace is yours, and we only add Annadale Road or Mill Road once you feel steady where you are.
Honest about when to book
Killarney is about 25 minutes away and Tralee about 30, so booking a test is easy. Booking it at the right moment matters more, and we tell you honestly when that is.
With or without a clutch
You can learn in either gearbox. Learn in an automatic and you get a code 78 licence, limited to automatics; learn in a manual and you can drive either.
Mention it when you book
When you enquire, tell us what would help you learn. You can ask for a female instructor, and we confirm the instructor and car at that point.

Manual driving lessons Killorglin
In a manual, the early lessons are about the clutch: finding the biting point, moving off without stalling, and stopping where you mean to. Once that is second nature, your instructor adds gear changes, junctions and mirror checks on Langford Street and Annadale Road. Then come longer drives, reversing and parking. Nearer your test, lessons spend time in the area around whichever centre you book, Killarney or Tralee. The goal is driving that needs no prompting from the passenger seat.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Killorglin
Choose automatic driving lessons in Killorglin and the car changes gear for you. That leaves you free to concentrate on steering, speed and what other drivers are doing. Some learners find that easier at the start. Keep the licence in mind, though. A test passed in an automatic gives a licence with code 78, which covers automatic cars only. Your instructor and car are confirmed when you enquire.

EDT lessons in Killorglin
Your learner permit comes with a requirement: 12 lessons of Essential Driver Training with an Approved Driving Instructor, all done before your test. Your instructor records each one in your logbook as it is done. You can begin as soon as you hold your learner permit, with lessons from home, work or the college.
Holders of some foreign licences may only need a reduced six-lesson course, so mention your licence when you get in touch. Booked as a course, the 12 EDT lessons cost €587.95 in a manual. After the 12, you may want more practice before the pretest, and your instructor will tell you plainly whether you need it.

Getting ready for the test
Killarney or Tralee for your test
From Killorglin, the Killarney centre is about 23.7 km by road, roughly 25 minutes. Tralee, at about 27.4 km, takes roughly 30 minutes. With two centres so close together in time, you can book whichever has the earlier date. Newcastle West, about 70 minutes away, is a fallback if neither suits you.
Whichever you choose, the pretest is a one-hour lesson in the area around that centre shortly before your test. Car hire for the test is included, so you sit it in the car you have been learning in. Tell us the centre and date once you have them, and we arrange the pretest to match.

Learning in Killorglin
Lessons around Killorglin
Your opening lessons start from your pick-up point and stay on familiar streets while you learn the controls. As you improve, you drive on Langford Street, then on Annadale Road and Mill Road, adding a little more each time. Your instructor decides the next step with you, never ahead of you.
Pick-up and drop-off happen at a point we agree with you: home, school, college or work. For students, Killorglin Community College on Langford Street can serve as both. Tell us the point you want when you enquire, and it is covered by the lesson price.
Milltown is only 6.4 km from Killorglin in a straight line, and we teach there too. Tralee and Fenit are on our list too. If you split your week between two of these towns, tell us, and we can agree a pick-up point in either.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
An EDT logbook travels with you through all 12 lessons, and your instructor signs each one when it is complete. Keep it with your learner permit. When the 12 signatures are in, you have done the training the test requires. What remains is practice until your instructor says you are ready.
