Driving lessons Ballyclerahan
What Ballyclerahan lessons offer
We teach driving lessons in Ballyclerahan in one-hour blocks, with an Approved Driving Instructor and a dual-controlled car. The aim is simple: get you to test standard, then prepare you for the test at Clonmel.
Collected at the community hall
Clerihan Community Hall works as an agreed pick-up point, as do your home and your work. There is no extra charge for being collected or dropped back.
An approved instructor every time
Lessons are given by an Approved Driving Instructor in a car with dual controls, so help is at hand from your first drive along Cashel Road.
Calm, steady progress
You set the pace, especially if you are nervous. Nobody raises their voice, and Moyle Bridge comes into the lessons only when the basics feel easy.
A straight answer on Clonmel
We say when you are ready for Clonmel and say what is missing if you are not. Nobody books you hours just to fill a diary.
Both cars available
Either gearbox works for lessons. An automatic pass brings a code 78 licence for automatic cars only, while a manual pass covers both.
A match that suits you
A female instructor can be requested when you enquire, along with anything else that would help. It shapes who we send to Ballyclerahan.

Manual driving lessons Ballyclerahan
The first manual lessons in Ballyclerahan are about the car: finding the biting point, changing gear and stopping smoothly near your pick-up. Junctions, roundabouts and reversing follow. Cashel Road comes into the drives early, then Moyle Bridge, and the lessons stretch further as your confidence builds. Because Clonmel is about 10 minutes away, the last few hours can be spent in the area around the centre, so the test feels like familiar ground.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Ballyclerahan
With automatic driving lessons in Ballyclerahan, the car selects the gears, leaving you free to focus on observation and road position. The test you sit is the same. Afterwards, though, an automatic pass gives a licence with code 78, which limits you to automatic cars, and a manual pass does not. Let us know when you enquire, and we look for an automatic instructor who can cover Ballyclerahan.

EDT lessons in Ballyclerahan
12EDT lessons6Reduced EDT
Essential Driver Training comes first for anyone on a learner permit: 12 lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor, recorded one by one in a logbook. From Ballyclerahan, each one starts at the pick-up point you agreed with us and ends with your instructor's signature.
Each EDT lesson is simply part of learning to drive, so there is nothing to revise beforehand. Some foreign licence holders qualify for a six-lesson course instead. If you choose an automatic, the 12 lessons cost €659.24 together in total.

Getting ready for the test
The Clonmel centre and beyond
Clonmel is 9 km from Ballyclerahan by road, about 10 minutes, so it is the obvious place to test. Thurles is further in distance at 36.2 km, yet at about 30 minutes it is quicker to reach than Tipperary town, about 35. Mitchelstown in County Cork is also about 35 minutes away.
For your pretest, you get an hour in the area around the centre shortly before the test, and the car for the test itself. In a manual, it comes to €183.63. You go to the test in the car you have learned in, after a last look at the roads near the centre.

Learning in Ballyclerahan
Where Ballyclerahan lessons go
We begin near where you were collected, giving you time to learn the controls before moving off. Cashel Road comes in once you are steady, then Moyle Bridge. Later, longer drives add speed and planning, one skill at a time.
Clerihan Community Hall is a handy place to meet if being collected at home does not suit. Work is fine too, if that suits. Once we have agreed it, your instructor drops you back there, or somewhere else you have arranged.
Fethard is 7.5 km away as the crow flies, Cahir 12.2 km, and we teach in each of them. If you work or study in one of those towns, ask on the form about being collected there instead of at home.

EDT and the test
The EDT: a guide
Bring the logbook to each lesson, and your instructor signs the entry for it at the end. That, in practice, is all EDT asks of you. From Ballyclerahan, with Clonmel so near, the gap between your twelfth signature and your pretest can be short, as long as your instructor agrees you are ready.

Ballyclerahan questions
A few good questions
Which is quicker from Ballyclerahan, Thurles or Tipperary town?
Thurles, by about five minutes: roughly 30 against 35, despite the extra distance. Clonmel, about 10 minutes away, is still the nearest centre and the one to check first for a date.
Where can my instructor collect me in Ballyclerahan?
Three choices: your home, your workplace or Clerihan Community Hall. Pick one when you book with us, and that is where each lesson starts and finishes, unless you arrange otherwise in advance.
How much is the EDT course from Ballyclerahan?
The 12 EDT lessons cost €587.95 in a manual car, with every pick-up included. The automatic price is on its ticket. Both can be paid online or by phone, as you prefer.
I have never driven. Will a driving school in Ballyclerahan teach me?
Yes. Lessons start from nothing if that is where you are: the seat, the mirrors and moving off. Your instructor takes it one step at a time, and you never feel rushed into the next skill.
