Driving lessonsKilsheelan
Kilsheelan Community Centre, your front door or your workplace can be the start of each lesson, at no extra cost. For the test, Clonmel is about 15 minutes away, with the next centres at 40 minutes or more.
Kilsheelan lessons, simply explained
Each of our driving lessons in Kilsheelan is an hour with an Approved Driving Instructor in a dual-controlled car, starting where we agreed to collect you. Clonmel is the centre we build toward, unless you choose another.
From the community centre
Kilsheelan Community Centre is one place we can collect you. Home and work are others, and being collected and dropped back is always included.
Approved teaching, safe car
Every hour is taught by an Approved Driving Instructor in a car with dual controls. The support is the same on Chapel Road in your first lesson as it is near the test.
Steady, calm lessons
If you are nervous, your instructor goes slowly and explains. Kilkenny Road and the quicker stretches wait until you are confident, and nobody raises their voice.
The honest answer on Clonmel
We say when you are ready for the Clonmel test, and what to fix if you are not. You only book the lessons that get you there.
Choose how you learn
An automatic pass leaves code 78 on your licence and limits you to automatics, while a manual pass covers both. Both are taught.
Preferences matter
Some learners ask for a female instructor, and you can too. Mention it, or anything else that matters, when you enquire, and it shapes who we send to Kilsheelan.

Manual driving lessons Kilsheelan
Your manual lessons from Kilsheelan start with the car near your pick-up: clutch control, gear changes and stopping smoothly. Next come junctions, roundabouts and the reversing exercises. You will drive Chapel Road and cross Glen Bridge early on, and Boola Bridge and Kilkenny Road come later, once your speed and planning improve. The final lessons move into the area around the Clonmel centre, about 15 minutes away, so the test is on roads you have practised on.
Ask about manual lessons ↗Automatic driving lessons Kilsheelan
If you book automatic driving lessons in Kilsheelan, you drive a car with no clutch pedal, which can make the early hours less tiring. The same test applies at Clonmel. The licence differs: an automatic pass gives code 78, limiting you to automatic cars, while a manual pass covers both. Mention it when you enquire, and we confirm the car and the instructor before your first lesson.

EDT lessons in Kilsheelan
If you hold a learner permit, you complete 12 Essential Driver Training lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor before your test. Our instructor collects you in Kilsheelan for each one, and your logbook is signed as every lesson ends, so you can see your progress.
Your instructor works through the course with you, and each lesson simply takes your driving a step further. If you hold certain foreign licences, six lessons may be enough. A manual course of 12 costs €587.95, with every pick-up in Kilsheelan included.
The EDT guide ↗Clonmel and the further centres
The Clonmel centre is 12.5 km from Kilsheelan by road, about 15 minutes, and it is where most of your preparation will aim. Beyond it, the options are a longer drive: the Waterford centre is about 40 minutes away, and Dungarvan and Tipperary town are both about 45. They are useful mainly if Clonmel's dates do not suit.
Your pretest, shortly before the test, is an hour in the area around the centre you booked, with the car for the test included. Expect €183.63 for a manual pretest. That hour means the roads near the centre are not new when you sit the test. Arrange it by phone or form once you have a date.
Lessons from Kilsheelan outwards
The first hour stays near your pick-up while you learn the car. Chapel Road and Glen Bridge come early, then Boola Bridge. Once you can hold a steady speed, lessons take in Kilkenny Road and stretch further out of Kilsheelan.
Pick-up can be at Kilsheelan Community Centre, at home or at work, as long as we agree the point when you book. Your instructor brings you back to the same place unless you ask for a different drop-off in advance.
Clonmel, 8.4 km away in a straight line, and Carrick-on-Suir, 11.4 km, are both towns we cover, and so is Ballyclerahan. A learner living there is collected in their own town and pays the same as you do here too.

The EDT: a guide
Your logbook is yours to keep and bring. In Kilsheelan, your instructor signs it at the end of each EDT lesson, and twelve signatures complete the course. After that, the conversation turns to Clonmel: is your driving ready, and if not, what is left to work on before you apply.
The EDT guide ↗ Preparing for the test ↗A few good questions
How far away are the other test centres?
Further than Clonmel, which is about 15 minutes from Kilsheelan. The Waterford centre takes about 40 minutes by road, and Dungarvan and Tipperary town about 45 each. They help if Clonmel has no date that suits.
Is collection from the community centre included?
Yes. The community centre can be your agreed pick-up point at no extra cost, as can home or work. Your instructor brings you back to the centre at the end, unless you arranged a different drop-off.
How much is a manual lesson in Kilsheelan?
€53.27 an hour in a manual, with collection and drop-off at your agreed point included. Automatic hours cost a little more, as the tickets show. Pay whichever way suits you, online or by phone.
Can a driving instructor in Kilsheelan help if I failed a test before?
Yes. Tell us what happened when you enquire, and your instructor starts by finding the gaps. You get an honest view of what needs work before you book again, and the pretest when you do.
