Driving lessonsCashel
Three test centres, Tipperary town, Thurles and Clonmel, are each about 20 minutes from Cashel, and every lesson before then starts with a pick-up from school, home or work.
Cashel lessons, from first hour to test
A driving school in Cashel has an easy job choosing a test centre and a harder one getting you ready for it. We collect you, teach you with an Approved Driving Instructor, and tell you honestly when that job is done.
Pick-up at the community school
We can agree Cashel Community School as a pick-up point for students. For anyone else, home or work is fine, and the collection is always included.
An approved instructor, two brakes
Each lesson is with an Approved Driving Instructor in a car fitted with dual controls. Your first drives along Main Street and Circular Road have that support built in.
Nervous learners welcome
Your instructor keeps every lesson calm and explains before asking. Golden Road and the faster roads wait until you are confident with the basics.
Ready for whichever centre
Tipperary town, Thurles or Clonmel: we tell you honestly when you are ready for the one you choose, and what is missing if you are not.
Manual or automatic in Cashel
Choose either. An automatic pass leaves code 78 on your licence and limits you to automatics, while a manual pass covers both kinds of car.
Preferences taken seriously
If you would rather learn with a female instructor, or have another preference, tell us when you enquire. It is the first thing we look at when choosing your instructor.

Manual driving lessons Cashel
Manual lessons in Cashel start near your pick-up point with the controls: clutch, gears, steering and stopping smoothly. Next, you learn junctions, roundabouts and the reversing manoeuvres, one at a time. Main Street and Circular Road come into the early drives, and Golden Road and Clonmel Road follow as you get comfortable at higher speeds. Your last lessons then move to the area around the centre you booked, Tipperary town, Thurles or Clonmel.

Automatic driving lessons in Cashel spare you the clutch, so the first hours are about steering, mirrors and position rather than gears. The same test applies. The licence differs: an automatic pass carries code 78 and covers automatic cars only, while a manual pass lets you drive both. Ask when you enquire, and we check who can teach you in an automatic in Cashel.

Cashel lesson prices
Cashel is priced the same as Holycross, Fethard and every other town we cover, with collection and drop-off included in each ticket.
EDT lessons in Cashel
Learner permit holders take 12 Essential Driver Training lessons with an Approved Driving Instructor before their test. In Cashel, we collect you for each one from the point you agreed, and each lesson is signed into your logbook as it ends.
The 12 lessons are not a separate subject, just the first part of learning to drive, planned by your instructor. Holders of some foreign licences complete six instead. In a manual car, the full course costs €587.95, with every pick-up included.
The EDT guide ↗Three centres about 20 minutes away
From Cashel, Tipperary town is 19.4 km by road, Thurles 21.3 km and Clonmel 28.7 km, and all three take about 20 minutes. That gives you three chances at a date that suits. Mitchelstown in County Cork, about 30 minutes away, is a fourth. Apply to whichever works, and we prepare you for it.
The pretest is an hour in the area around your chosen centre, booked for shortly before the test, and it comes with the car you sit the test in. In an automatic car the pretest is €193.81. You arrive at the test having driven nearby roads only a short while beforehand, in the same car.
Cashel roads in order
Your first hour stays close to your pick-up point while the controls become second nature. Main Street and Circular Road follow, then Golden Road and Clonmel Road once you can hold a steady speed and plan ahead. Each lesson adds one thing, and your instructor tells you what before you start.
Cashel Community School can be the pick-up point for students, and anyone else can choose home or work. Settle on the point when you book. Your instructor drops you back at the same place, or at another agreed point if that suits your day.
Holycross is 13.6 km away in a straight line and Fethard 14.4 km, and both are towns we teach in, along with Killenaule. If you live in one and study in Cashel, ask about being collected at the school instead of at home.

The EDT: a guide
One signed entry per EDT lesson, twelve in all: that is your logbook. In Cashel your instructor signs it before you get out of the car. When the last entry is in, you choose a centre from three that are each about 20 minutes away, and we plan the pretest for it.
