Driving lessons Clonmel
Clonmel learners, close to the centre
A driving school in Clonmel has one advantage: the test centre is in town. We use it, keeping your last lessons and pretest close to home, with an Approved Driving Instructor beside you.
Loretto on Coleville Road
Students at Loretto Secondary School can be met on Coleville Road after class. Everyone else is collected at home or work, and the pick-up costs nothing extra.
Two brakes, one ADI
An Approved Driving Instructor teaches every lesson in a car with dual controls, from the first drive along Queen Street to the last before your test.
Calm, steady lessons
Nervous learners go at their own pace. Your instructor keeps a level voice, and Upper Gladstone Street waits until the basics are second nature.
No early bookings
We tell you honestly when your driving is up to the Clonmel test, and what is still missing when it is not. You only pay for the hours you need.
Choose your gearbox
Both are taught. A manual pass covers both kinds of car, and an automatic pass puts code 78 on your licence, limiting you to automatics.
Ask for what suits you
When you enquire, you can ask for a female instructor or tell us about anything that worries you. The match we make takes it into account.

Manual driving lessons Clonmel
Manual lessons in Clonmel start near your pick-up point with the clutch, gears and steering. Junctions and roundabouts come in when moving off is easy, then the reversing exercises. Queen Street and Upper Gladstone Street come early, with Market Street and Coleville Road as your observation improves. Because the test centre is 2.7 km away by road, your last lessons can spend most of the hour in its area, so test day feels like another lesson.

Learn in an automatic
Automatic driving lessons Clonmel
Automatic driving lessons in Clonmel take the clutch out, so from the start your attention goes on traffic, signs and position. You sit the same test at the same centre. The licence afterwards differs: an automatic pass is marked code 78, which means automatic cars only, while a manual pass lets you drive both. Ask for an automatic when you enquire, and we tell you who can teach you.

EDT lessons in Clonmel
If you hold a learner permit, the test only becomes possible after 12 lessons of Essential Driver Training with an Approved Driving Instructor. In Clonmel, each of those lessons starts at your agreed pick-up point and ends with your logbook signed.
Your instructor plans EDT as part of normal lessons, so you never study it separately. With some licences from abroad, the course drops to six. In a manual car, the course of 12 costs €587.95, and every one includes pick-up in Clonmel.

Getting ready for the test
The test centre in Clonmel
The Clonmel test centre is 2.7 km by road, about 5 minutes from town. That is close enough for your last lessons and pretest to happen in its area with almost no travel. If you want to look elsewhere, Tipperary town and Mitchelstown are both about 35 minutes away and Dungarvan about 45.
The pretest gives you an hour in the area around the centre shortly before your test, and the car you will sit the test in. The automatic pretest comes to €193.81. Book it on 021 2355558 or through the form once the date is confirmed. You walk into the test straight from familiar roads.

Learning in Clonmel
Learning on Clonmel's streets
You start close to your pick-up, learning the controls before you move far. Queen Street and Upper Gladstone Street come into the early lessons. Market Street and Coleville Road follow, and later lessons go further out so you can practise at higher speeds before the test.
Loretto Secondary School on Coleville Road is where we can meet students after class. For others, home or work is the pick-up, agreed when you book. Your instructor drops you back at the same point, or at another one arranged in advance.
Ballyclerahan, 7.2 km away in a straight line, and Kilsheelan, 8.4 km, are towns we also teach in. Fethard, 12.5 km away, is on our list too, and learners from all three can test at the Clonmel centre if they choose.

Clonmel questions
A few good questions
How long does it take to reach the Clonmel centre?
It is 2.7 km by road, roughly a five-minute drive. That keeps the pretest and your last lessons close to home. Tipperary town and Mitchelstown, both about 35 minutes away, are the nearest alternatives.
Can I be collected on Coleville Road after school?
Yes, at Loretto Secondary School, if we agree it as your pick-up point. The lesson starts there and ends at the school or at home, whichever you chose when you booked.
Do lessons cost more in a town with a test centre?
No. The price list is the same in Clonmel as in every town we teach in. A single manual lesson is €53.27, pick-up included, and the other prices are on the tickets.
Can I learn in Clonmel if I live in Kilsheelan?
Yes. We teach in Kilsheelan too, and lessons there start from a pick-up point in Kilsheelan itself. You can still choose the Clonmel centre for your test when the time comes.
